Welcome![edit]

Hello, Eris of Evenfeather, and welcome to the Official Guild Wars Wiki! If you need help with anything, please feel free to add a message to my talk page. I highly recommend that you check out the "Welcome to the wiki" page - it's extremely useful as an initial guide. Best of luck and happy editing! --Santax (talk · contribs) 07:41, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Credit on guild pages[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you've been signing your user name on several guild pages. Just letting you know that signing for credits is not necessary as it is already nicely covered by the history tab at the top. I would like to bring your attention to this. Thanks. -- ab.er.rant sig 17:13, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Ok... Thanks. I will make the appropriate changes. --Eris of Evenfeather 15:51, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Guild page[edit]

May I just ask why you blanked Guild:Artisans Of Illusionary Art? Has the guild been disbanded or do you just not want the page on wiki anymore? Or is there some other reason? - anja talk 08:55, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I saw now that you created a new guild page, with a "The" in the name. The page you blanked is a misnamed guild article? - anja talk 09:02, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Yea... I noticed that I had missnamed two of the guilds in our alliance and the links for The Marksmen guild in the Alliance Nav were not going to the places that I had made. I wasn't really sure how to delete the pages after I replaced them with the new ones, so I just wiped them clean so as not to confuse anyone that there were two of the same guilds. I'm still kind of new to Guild Wiki, but I'm learning quite a bit as I play with it. Thanks. --Eris of Evenfeather 15:49, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

I see :) If you want a page deleted, the easiest way is to write {{delete|reason for deletion|~~~~~}} on the page and save, as that draws the attention of the admins and they will delete it properly. Just blanking doesn't really delete something in wiki :)
Welcome to the wiki btw, I hope you will have a nice time here! - anja talk 16:06, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Ah.. ok.. That definitely makes sense. Thank you for your help Anja. --Eris of Evenfeather 16:09, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Recent Changes flooding[edit]

Hi, when editing pages, could you please try to include all the changes you want to make to the page in as little edits as possible? It's flooding recent changes, and it makes it difficult for editors that patrol RC to be able to spot things like vandalism. For example, the last 27 edits made to this page were all done in the space of one hour. However, the difference made could have and should have all been done in one edit. Thanks, Santax (talk · contribs) 17:01, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that... I'm still learning how to use some of the editing code and tricks in Guild Wiki. I'll try to remember that in the future. Thanks for letting me know. --Eris of Evenfeather 17:06, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

No problem, as long as you bear that in mind when editing your Guild page :) --Santax (talk · contribs) 17:07, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Rebuilding guild pages[edit]

Per User talk:63.230.70.251. I'll give you some tips to help you get your guild pages set up nicely.

First of all, you don't have to delete File:Guild Celestial Arrows Of The Phoenix cape.jpg; you can upload a new version by clicking on the upload link below the File history. As for your user page, if you are going to use an image from outside the wiki, you have to make sure that the image is not going to conflict with any copyright policies. If you're rebuilding, I suggest that you stay with images which are either your original work, or from Anet (who create amazing and varied works of art).

Below is a list of links that may apply to you. They're not meant to flood you with information, but they do exist and you should know the basics of some of them.

Hope this all helps! G R E E N E R 08:07, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Images and tagging[edit]

Please re-read GWW:IMAGE. When you are uploading images, you must first designate what they are going to be used for (using "Guild" or "User" at the start of the file name). You must also ensure that you are tagging the images appropriately, such as giving ownership to ArenaNet for a screen capture you have taken.

All of these options are presented to you when you upload an image. Make sure you are selecting them. Thanks! G R E E N E R 15:02, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Sorry about that, and thank you for making the appropriate corrections. I will remember to credit them in the future. I do have a few questions to ask about images and editing. When I was uploading the File:Guild The Evenfeather Family Wiki Banner.jpg at the top, and then uploaded a smaller version of it to fit the page, it appeared to be vertically squished. After a couple of failed attempts to unsquish it through reversioning, I closed my browser and reopened it to see that it was fine. I don't quite understand why that happens. 0.o
Also wanted to ask about how I can get a table of contents to come up on the page. I've looked at other pages that have them, to study and see how they work, but I am not seeing any coding that relates to those creating the table.
And lastly, For a guild with so much history behind it, what do you think of the page so far? Eris of Evenfeather 19:51, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
The image caching mechanism for wikis is... interesting. So sometimes, you can upload a new picture and you'll see the old one on the pages where it's used (or, as in your case, it will look...wrong). You can try refreshing the cache (click on the clock near your user ID, on the top navigation bar). But sometimes, you need to close your browser. :-/
A table of contents shows automatically if you have three or more headers on the page, but you can force one by using __TOC__ (place it at the top of the article). It only goes off headers, which are indicated by using the wikicode at the start of a line, e.g. == Level 2 == , === Level 3 === and so on. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:00, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
To add, the table of contents is automatically removed from all guild pages, no matter their length. If you wish to add in a table of contents, do as TEF suggests and add __TOC__ onto the page where you would like it to appear. G R E E N E R 20:24, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for all the help guys! I realize I still have A LOT to learn about wiki code and GWW standards, but every little bit helps you know. Eris of Evenfeather 20:47, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
You uploaded another image with the incorrect naming, haha. I moved File:Eris.jpg to File:Guild The Evenfeather Family Eris 2.jpg for you. It seems you already had File:Guild The Evenfeather Family Eris.jpg, but if you want either deleted, let me know.~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 04:15, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
Yea... I can't seem to figure this out tonight.. lol Though.. that would explain why it wouldn't let me move the first Eris.jpg into the properly named Eris.jpg. Eris of Evenfeather 04:18, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
The way I usually upload images is to write the link in the article (e.g. File:User Farlo Blah Blah Blah.jpg), make sure it's correct, and then use the red link created to upload the image. It helps make sure that you're using the right image, and it's a lot easier to check that than using the Upload feature (at least for me). Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 04:24, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
Ok.. Question. I uploaded a new version of The Evenfeather Family Guild Cape, a pink one to promote breast cancer awareness for October, but the image hasn't changed on the wiki page for the guild. The image is just squished. Is there something I forgot to do? Eris of Evenfeather 09:28, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

"File:Evenfeather Tales.jpg"[edit]

Hiya, I suspect you're about to use this on your guild page - so I've moved it to the guild image namespace and it can now be found at File:Guild The Evenfeather Family Tales.jpg. (wow thats an extensive guild page xD) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 10:53, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

(talks to self) See.. I knew I should have labeled it Guild The Evenfeather Family! Hah!.. I second guessed myself when uploading this image. Obviously, I don't wiki enough to remember it all the time. Thanks for the help. Pretty cool huh? One of these days I will get around to figuring out how to make an epic user page. Eris of Evenfeather 10:59, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

User age[edit]

Hey again :P - I saw you edited {{User Age}}. Unluckily we can't have two templates on the same page, so I've cut your template out and moved it onto {{User Age 2}}. (If you had clicked on any pages using the box before me edit, you'd have seen two templates every time someone tried to use the single one :) ) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 08:28, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Ah.. ok.. Sorry about that. I really am such a novice at this. LOL! Thanks again. I am learning though. Any chance you can help me figure out my user page? Trying to do something like User:Salome's page, but using the new images I uploaded for each of the characters. Eris of Evenfeather 08:35, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Sure I can help, but I'm trying to get a few past paper exam questions done today. I've copied the formatting from User:Salome/Salome onto User:Eris of Evenfeather/Eris Of Evenfeather, I've replaced the image but thats about it, if you see when you edit theres a bunch of text, just replace all of those with relevant stuff :P (once you've done it for one page, you'll probably get the hang of it and be able to copy the rest of salome's pages across :D )File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 09:16, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
That's awesome! This definetely gives me something new to study and learn about wiki. Thanks Chief! And good luck on the exams! Eris of Evenfeather 09:23, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Looks like you're doing a fine job so far :) (idk if this is relevant, but I see you've got at least Miku, so perhaps you have Zei Ri too..) but just to say I added another parameter | zeiri=Yes for Salome's character template that would display a pic of Zei ri too. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 21:56, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
I haven't quite finished WoC Hard Mode yet. Another work-in-progress as you might have guessed. As far as the wiki coding goes, I pick things up pretty quickly once I understand how they work. It's the keeping in constant practice and study that I have a hard time with. Eris of Evenfeather 22:03, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
