Guild Wars 2 Day/Night System[edit]
Guild Wars could add a day/night system to the gameplay. This could also alow for events based on game time and not life time. this could also give new graphic ideas for night lighting much like the RiverSide provence in the 1st Guild Wars. The night time switch could also give new ideas for monster and npc A.I. during night and day. the time zone should go on a 24/12 grid the end being the end of the map in east and west. as for the north and south they can position the sun and moon location on the grid of the sky, from the location of the path of the sun and moon line. Oh as a side note by events i mean quests that can be linked by time, that way there is no shortage of players doing a quest. The shortage of players on a certain mission is clearly seen in the 1st chapter of guild wars, some people have to wait hours for a desent amount of people to arrive. --Raymondo 15:48, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- Count me in on a day/night system. I'm not sure about restricting certain events to day or night, as that may hamper some casual players who can't access something when they need to. I do like the idea of playing and seeing the day pass before me though. Perhaps a "day" cycle would be around six hours or so; slow enough that its not distracting, but fast enough that people get a sense of time passing...
- If theres going to be a night there could be some candles so the player will see his path or there could be some sort of glow. I like that idea --Rated Five 14:21, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
I think it should go on a 12 hour clock, make it more realistic. That way people like me know when they should take a break. Also, it'd be kind of weird playing at say 1 p.m. and have it bright and sunny in rl, where ingame the moons just coming out.
- Apart from the fact that not everyone lives in the same location. So say I was playing with other friends from europe but friends who were several time zones ahead of me. That would all get a wee bit confusing. I agree with the suggestion below, a Tyrian time, not based on RL time (and NOT based on american time zones!) would be a better method of controlling day and night cycles. Also I think a 24 hour Cycle would be better as at least then you aren't speeding through night and day. However wouldn't a night/day system add alot of programming to the game? As in monster AI, graphics effects and so on.... Although it would give a sense of progression in the game and take it away from its current static feel. -- Salome 10:50, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
what about having seasons like this- the whole map is divided up into 4 sections top left hand top right hand bottom right and bottom left hand sections when the game first comes out the top left hand corner of the map will be i spring the top right hand in summer botto right hand in fall and bottom left hand the seasons will move in a clockwise motion moving about enough space to make a complete rotation in about 3/4 of the normal time of a year in real life. day and night will have 2 lines on a map 1 representing day the other representing night they will always be about 8 hours apartthus making day and night 8 hours each and on that map it'll show radiation from each of the lines representing where it is day and night also if one line is at the edge of the map it willrevert itself over to the other side but it still will be day or night where it was on that side for another 4 hours also there will be to forms for most enemeys day and night form . if a quest says kill 1 pony-hopper you could either kill its day or night form to complete the questand with days and nights being 8 hours long each if you can only play till 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. you will be alternating tween day and night every time you play Cabbagepatchman 20:48, 7 June 2008 (UTC)Cabbagepatchman
Guild Wars: Different Creatures[edit]
I think that it would be cool if GW2 would let different creatures appear depending on the day/season/time. It would also be real cool to see dragons lighting up the sky at night with their fire. This would allow new weapon skins and more. I hope ArenaNet gives this idea some thought. May 13, 2008 user:ian8766
- Now THAT is a really good idea.--The Gates Assassin 21:15, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Wow, totally agree, would add a great amount of realism to the game and make it more in-depth. Also, the knowlege that the world around you is truely changing all the time would be quite exciting and would prevent the game from getting boring.--Neyon 20:05, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
how about if ghosts only came out at night? because the dragons are in set places.Getefix
and something else that would be cool is if at night u could go in like a cave or soemthing and see some creaturs sleeping or something.
A new area idea[edit]
- ← moved to ArenaNet:Guild Wars 2 suggestions
Tyrian Time[edit]
Something I think Guild Wars would benefit greatly from is its own clock. Players of the game hail from all over the world, not just America, so figuring out the time of events (both official and player-created) often confuses people, especially when daylight savings comes along and messes things up. In-game time would also be a good oppourtunity to introduce day and night cycles, as mentioned above, which I think is an awesome idea. :D --Mme. Donelle 22:20, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
I think this is a good idea, it'll be way easier to plan ingame events on youtube, without trying to figure out everyone's timezone.
Can't forget about Time[edit]
You can't for get about the following all caused Time:
- Erosion
- The Ring of Fire Islands Growing
- Sea Levels
- Growth of Plants
- Maybe the Crystal Dessert can become the Crystal Sea Again
- New Animals/Enemies/Allies
- Evolution
Well these things all are caused by time and as we all know, there is a large gap of time between GW:EotN and GW2. Treesbyty 12:28, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I would personally like to see the world change quite considerably. I wouldn't mind the continents looking generally the same but if the entire world was literally exactly the same in GW2 it would be a real let down as there isn't really anything new to explore in that.--Neyon 20:06, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
if the crystal desert became a sea then palawa joko will not have his base in the southern bit or the dragon in the north. --Getefix
elona,factions[edit]
i liked playing in elona the most , and when i read wikki articles it seems like it isent even going to be there in gw2. and that makes me so sad ,i liked porph the least of the tree campains i thougt even factions was better , so i realy hope that elona and factions are going to come back in gw2 . maybe just in an expansion redlord
- at this point..im pretty sure that is what is planned. I think prophecies had the best landscape, expecially pre-searing ascalon.--Raph Talky 02:49, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
How about adding elona to the prophecies map? (just under the crystal desert)User:drumstick

Weather[edit]
Speaking of Time of day when a creature comes out there should be Weather changes like it snows suddenly or it starts Raining or Misting as of sleet or freezing rain. Because of this it would change ALOT of things, like environmental effects. If its cold or snowing it will cause so kind of effect to our characters then just nothing at all. They become slower or something else. As of being hot it will effect our characters motivation b/c of how much armor they have on that make them very hot to fight in or etc.
As of Night or Day it would make sense if during a moonless night our characters sight becomes limited because of no light as of fog also.
Also what would help is if elementalist casts magic it would make sense if they cast a fireball from the heveans, the clouds in the sky moves as a ball of fire comes down to the earth or as they cast thunder some grey clouds would come then u start to see lightning and etc. as o a little rain of a ele some how uses magic to cause it to. BUT seeing the weather change being created from a play the weather in the area doesn't change AT ALL its only in that area that the weather is affected and after the spell everything become back to it was and etc.
Now Seasons, It would help to create the 4 seasons, because of this it would affect the monsters activities in the WHOLE game almost or in that part of the world at least. Seeing its like that Spring also brings out the environment also with trees blooming as of St. Patrick's day u see clovers all over the ground as of everywhere in game almost is fantasy like green. Also it would be cool is to plant seeds then later in the game it becomes a tree, and seeing your able to cause damage to the environment with attacks u can destroy it then plant another seed or etc. --რiɫՒ¤§ 01:08, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- Seasons is a great idea. I would imagine that in-game climate changes and creates world effects. The seasons can determine closing certain passages or opening certain areas to explore. Environmental effects can be added to explorable areas to make certain distances difficult to traverse. Mobs can be dramatically different too and can be set to correspond to the changing weather. A range of spirits and rituals can be created to alleviate *or take advantage of changing global conditions,Players will have to be mindful of the weather before engaging an instance. Weather conditions can present opportunities to provide some amazing graphics and special effects. Weather and seasons can also be made to correspond to the holiday bonuses. Easter egg hunts haha!* All would be set on a cycle that corresponded to weekend events and a holiday calendar. (Don't forget the calendar for the dragon festival too!) I posted this above but whatever- what about having seasons like this- the whole map is divided up into 4 sections top left hand top right hand bottom right and bottom left hand sections when the game first comes out the top left hand corner of the map will be i spring the top right hand in summer botto right hand in fall and bottom left hand the seasons will move in a clockwise motion moving about enough space to make a complete rotation in about 3/4 of the normal time of a year in real life. day and night will have 2 lines on a map 1 representing day the other representing night they will always be about 8 hours apartthus making day and night 8 hours each and on that map it'll show radiation from each of the lines representing where it is day and night also if one line is at the edge of the map it willrevert itself over to the other side but it still will be day or night where it was on that side for another 4 hours also there will be to forms for most enemeys day and night form . if a quest says kill 1 pony-hopper you could either kill its day or night form to complete the questand with days and nights being 8 hours long each if you can only play till 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. you will be alternating tween day and night every time you play

Monster Populations and Farming[edit]
I have a suggestion for Guild Wars 2. Seeing all the other RPG games have the system of monsters respawning after u kill them I want to see Guild Wars be a little Different. I hope seeing they are increasing the land size of Guild Wars to the point I hope for in fact there are no such thing as reaching the edge of the world (hearing that in Oblivion there is about no way to explore the whole game b/c it is SOOOO huge u can keep walking for a year straight and you will never find the edge of the world or come across a place u been in.) Why can't Guild Wars 2 have monster populations? It would make more sense. More the players farm a certain monster in game, harder it is to find them to keep farming from them. Its like Skale for example. About a million players keep farming them, and because they farm them, their population goes down and they become harder to farm and find. After a while people stop looking for them cause of their rarity then after a certain amount of time or a certain time like year or whatever the Skale population gets larger again then they become common(as of time of day or season they usually come out like mating season or migrating season or etc.). IT would stop monster spawn killing like in other MMO's which have a few game servers seeing the world is SOOO Big. BUT also b/c of population it can determine how many bosses there are in each species as of a Monster Specie God Like Boss that would take about Thousand of players to defeat in the world as a event of some sort. Plus it can get rid of bots xD --რiɫՒ¤§ 01:08, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Maybe if things had a deseginated respawn point or if things were born (no not like how people are) from eggs in a back area/lair (sorta like a designated respawn point) and if after you kill a boss and some other group is behind you the other group will get a pop-up saying that another so-and-so was recently born and it can sense its father's/ Mother's lack of presence and its really mad so the other group engages in battle with it (this wouldn't be an exact clone of the one before it maybe a bit smaller differant color and stuff like that) this would go in a cycle coming up with maybe 5 differant allabys so if you do the quest again you don't get th same little pop-up( if nobody is in the arae at the time of respawn it will just walk up on the screen Cabbagepatchman 21:05, 7 June 2008 (UTC)Cabbagepatchman
Bosses[edit]
As of bosses. It doesn't make since to have 1000, Dragons Flat bow b/c there is only one Drago Boss. I suggest to make a boss that appears one time EVER in game and it drops a certain Item that can only be found in game ONCE. It would also help kill most of the farming of this certain boss and one of a kind Goldy Weapons would be rare in game be very VALUABLE. Also. --რiɫՒ¤§ 01:08, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
this wouldnt work in a persistent world. The idea, imo, 1. has been suggested, and 2. isnt very good, this would make all greens 50 times more expensive (e.g...Bubahls Grasp=6k..6x50=35k o_O)--Raph Talky 02:51, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Species Title(s)[edit]
If you kill a certain species in Guild Wars 2 u eventually get a title called "DragonSlyer" Or something like that or "The Dragon Reaper" to being the Death reaper of Dragons or Demons or etc. It would make titles more unique and it would be a One of a kind title almost seeing some titles in game EVERYONE HAS and most players are like whats the point of getting a title if thousands of other people have it also. --რiɫՒ¤§ 01:08, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Some New Continents Already mentioned O,O[edit]
Ok This hit me a while back. IS it possible that some of the continents that are going to be in Guild Wars 2 already been mentioned to us? If You look at the Past Records of the Scribe you will notice he said some stuff found all over Tyria, Elona and Cantha were not native and came from a distant land. I have a few here I found.
- June 15, 2006
- New Treasures on the Horizon?
- During my travels across Tyria and Cantha I have met many people. And while all have a calling of their own—be it soldier, merchant, mercenary, or scribe—each shares a deep appreciation for unique items.
- I recently received word—as yet confirmed—that adventurers have found a few items previously unknown to our world. It is unclear from where these items originated, but early reports state that they are of fine craftsmanship, and are unique in appearance. I have spoken with local blacksmiths and craftsmen in both Cantha and Tyria, and none of them will take credit for the creation of these new objects. So many questions come to mind: What are these wonderful items? Where did they come from? Why have they mysteriously arrived? Yet all of these questions are trivial when compared to the biggest question on everyone's mind: Where can they be found?
- One thing is certain: These items are very likely to become an object of great desire for collectors everywhere. Such treasures will no doubt catch a fine price for those lucky enough to find them, particularly while they remain elusive. If you are an adventurer looking for the latest in weaponry, or a trader looking to make a quick profit, you should keep your eyes open for these mysterious new wares.

- Trinkets from a Distant Land
- A mysterious celebration from a far-off realm will influence our fine lands this weekend. Featuring iconic representations of strange quad-leafed plants, this holiday is unlike anything I have seen before. While I am uncertain what the holiday commemorates, it is clear the underlying themes are the color green and the zealous consumption of alcoholic beverages. Actually, many who celebrate this holiday in that distant land may not even know what they are celebrating, but that does not seem to stop them from having a good time!
- Perhaps stranger than the foliage-tinged festival itself was the source of my information. A man no taller than a dwarf, with hair as orange as an Ascalonian sunset and clothing greener than the Maguuma jungle approached me and said to expect a "bit o' fun" this weekend. He told me there is a strange force of magic at work which may produce unusual outcomes this weekend, and if an adventurer slays the enemies of Tyria, Cantha, or Elona, there is a chance the victor will be rewarded with a mysterious item from that miniscule messenger's homeland.
- When I asked about the nature of the items, my small friend merely winked and spoke of intoxicating pints of Shamrock Ale and unusual objects called "Four-Leaf Clovers," which he proclaimed would offer great benefits to an adventuring party, and perhaps even give those who use one an extra bit o' luck! In all honesty, I am not altogether certain the little man hadn't had a few pints already.
- And with that, the tiny traveler vanished, leaving me with etchings of the strange items he had mentioned. I have added these images within this scroll, so you may all decide for yourselves the veracity of his statements. Perhaps you might even be lucky enough to find some at this week's end.
- IMO: I think the Scribe assumes the Easter event items came from another land but he is not really clear but the scribe assumes that it came from a distant land also. Seeing this Another Continent may have a BIG BIG event like Winterday and Halloween but about Easter and St. Patties day which Elona, Tyria and Cantha dont know about.

- New Weapons Reported
- An old friend who works at the Kaineng Docks shared some thrilling gossip with me. He overheard that a vessel carrying a shipment of weapons—of a type previously unseen on either continent—was en route to Cantha when an unknown force ambushed it. The brutal attack left neither cargo nor survivors behind. The weapons were stolen, along with the rest of the payload, and have apparently been sold to various groups and armies on mainland Cantha.
- The information is hazy, but early reports suggest the items were spread across the continent, and some have even made their way into the Underworld and Fissure of Woe. It seems whoever intercepted the shipment has no regard for the citizens of Cantha, for these miscreants have essentially armed some of the most villainous armies with powerful weapons to turn against the innocent.
- The Outcasts in the Jade Sea have been bragging about a new weapon they have acquired, though the type is unknown. Also, Wardens of the Echovald Forest were seen transporting what looked to be a large crate, suggesting they have acquired some of the plundered wares as well. Other weapons are apparently being sold off to individuals, rather than in bulk to a particular army, meaning we will find many of these new items in the clutches of random evildoers. Canthan officials thus far have found themselves unable to halt the distribution of these stolen goods.
- However, even in the darkest hour, there is always a shred of hope. These weapons could be liberated and turned against the very armies of evil that now wield them. The equipment would no doubt be of great value to both treasure seekers and soldiers. It would be most advantageous for you to hunt the beasts that now possess these items and augment your personal arsenal or sell the loot as you see fit. Canthan officials will not hold you accountable for possession or sale of the stolen artifacts, provided you were not part of the initial plot to steal them.
- If you are fond of new and rare equipment, you would be wise to search for these new items soon. They are no doubt being distributed among the ranks of our most hated enemies as we speak, and we most likely will begin seeing them used against us within the next few days. May Dwayna protect you while you wrest the stolen items from these fiends, and may Balthazar strike down those who stand in your way!"
I know there is some areas in Guild Wars they also mention something like this like Missions Quest and Ancient Stones etc. Also its a High possibility that Anet wont scrape the Utpoia Continent they were working on also. So there is MAYBE some info we already gotten on this and we just need to Look around. Hey I can't wait for a Continent just mainly based on the Irish xD Keep Looking for more things like these guys and post post POST. I think more mention about unnamed continents can be found in lore. --რiɫՒ¤§ 01:11, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Anet could have a little story at the beggining of the game " about 100 years ago some sailor named uto pia from tyria sailed east from the crystal desert only to find this land which he named utopia he died exploring it but this land is still needing to be explored
= Animals in ocean[edit]
Maybe there could be animals in the ocean. Like if u stand there and watch you could see like a dolphin jump out of the water or like see fins on the horison. Or if u stand there you could hear like a whale or a dolphin making some kinda of sound. And if you walk in shallow water there could be littler fish swimming around. And at some parts of the shallow water you could go to there could be sign that say warning, and there could be sharks in there that would attack you.
There are many ideas circulating about how the time frame should work in relation to seasons, time of day, and length of said seasons or days. Here's how I see an effective system functioning.
Each year in-game would last for 4 weeks real-time. Each week would constitute a season.* Each season could last for 42 days in-game assuming you made each day in-game last for 4 hours real time.**
- This is assuming they use the 4-season system.
- The length of day/night is variable. If they have in-game days 8 hours in length, seasons would last for 21 days.
To put it in a chart as best I can, here is how it would look.
(NOTE: The chart on the left is in-game time setting and the chart on the right is real time setting!)
Year 1 Vs. Month 1
Season 1- Week 1- 42 days 7 days Season 2- Week 2- 42 days 7 days Season 3- Week 3- 42 days 7 days Season 4- Week 4- 42 days 7 days
Of course, incorporating seasons and day/night into the game is a very good idea. To take into account monster activity with a dependence on the time of day and the season that day is in adds a realism to the game the people can truly appreciate. Also, holidays can be instituted and have an actual calendar date in-game that people can plan for, look forward to, or at the very least anticipate.
I'd say adding a in-game clock tool would be, if nothing else, a courtesy to players. It would help coordinate events a bit easier as well as eliminate the hassle of calculating real time across countries. Also, something as simple as a menu option entitled "Clocks" or something of that nature that, when selected, gives a view of the time of day across all the countries that play would be helpful because it could allow players to understand exactly what time of day it really is in other countries. Example: If I play in the mornings mostly, I could join a guild from another country that plays evenings if said guild has a timezone roughly 8 hours ahead of my time. I also wouldn't mind a calendar feature that renews with each year. It would be useful especially if I could write events in it. I can even picture a guild calendar that the leader can write in for his members to view important meetings, events, tournaments, parties, etc.
Now, I am tempted to assume that the designers at A-Net very much enjoy creating this world. Along with the realism added by changing seasons and differential animal behavior in correlation with season changing, it would give or heroes at A-Net a chance to stretch those magic fingers and create a whole new environment to shock and awe their audience.
What do I see when I think of the possibility?
My mind flashes back to Pre-Searing Ascalon. It was beautiful. Now when I hear that the polygon count is rising and the system supportability is increasing...
I'm walking a dirt path through a forest as the seasons leaves realize the coming fall. It is almost dusk now and the sun looks as though it is being held in place by the reaching palms of the Shiverpeak tops. Small creatures find their way into holes and brush as the cool air descends. I see Divinity's Reach now from the crest of the hill. It's rich buildings mix haphazardly with the last of the human refugees. Somewhere far behind me, the dragon cries out a wail of triumph. She has returned. In the trees, small creatures tremble at the sound. The start of the new season is marked as the first of the leaves floats gently to the dirt path. It begins...
