About Me[edit]

I'm a major Guild Wars fan - it is basically the only game i have every played and still managed to keep playing it for thousands of hours without getting bored, which i think is preety amazing (perhaps a little sad on my part :D). I own and have completed all of the Guild Wars expansions and am now grinding my way to totally completing my hall of monuments.

Havn't played for a bit though unfortunatly as i am in the middle of my exam period. However, afterwards I am free to play GW for almost the entire of the summer, although I am spending a month trekking through the jungle in Borneo and if they decide to release the GW2 Beta right then, i will be very annoyed :P

My Fantastic Fact File Thingey[edit]

Real Name: Simon Sampson

Age: 16

Gender: Male

In Game Name: Quasar Eclipse

E-mail: simonjsampson@hotmail.co.uk

Played GW for: Roughly 2 and a half years.

Best Gaming Friend: Elegost

Best GW moment: Destroying mallyx in post nerf, pre ursan times.

Worst GW moment: When i was new to GW, I deleted a level 20 Elementalist with best gear and many skills capped, because I died too much - OOPS!

My GW2 Suggestions[edit]

Anything to say about my ideas? Talk about it on my discussion page.

Large scale PVE activities for entire alliances to work towards.[edit]

I always thought there was never enough large scale PVE in the original Guild Wars. This needs to be changed in my opinion. In GW2 players will not be restricted to only meeting their frinds in outposts, however, I think that Arenanet should create some areas where you still have to. In these areas, each alliance will have their own status saved, and players can only meet people here who are in their alliance. From this outpost, the alliance can set off to fight a war or series of repeatable missions. As the alliance completes one stage, they move onto another outpost which was unaccesable before, and their position is saved. If the alliance team loses, they move back a step. As the alliance progresses, it becomes much harder to survive.

This idea, coupled with LARGE teams (whole alliances allowed to take part at once perhaps) would provide a large scale PVE activity for Alliance members to play together. It is different to current missions, as when you complete one area, you move on, and if you lose, you move back, creating a less repetitive gameplay rather than beating a mission over and over and over etc.

Other methods of introducing game currency and supplies into the econemy.[edit]

Killing monsters for drops is not a bad way to bring items and cash into the econemy, but I always feel it is a bit crude and unrealistic to only have one real method to do so. Perhaps if you could collect your own resources somehow, this would create a more realistic gameplay. (and less repetitive too!)

Trainable Abilities[edit]

Having abilities alone is fine, but I think that the player should be able to level up their abilities, unlocking new actions. This simply makes the game more interesting than if players can already do everything from the moment they start and gives them something to work on.

High max levels for skills / abilities / charachters etc[edit]

I always thought it should be HARD to max out your charachters, it just bugs me that everyone you see in GW these days is level 20, with perfect armour and weapons. It just means that being max level is not really something to be admired anymore, nor is it particularily special or powerful.

Two is company[edit]

This is something I have been thinking about - wouldn't it be better if some of the game was played in much smaller teams of two or maybe three? This way, each player is truely essential to the team rather than the situation we currently have in GW1 where there are countless teams of ursans running around in chaos, killing everything in sight, not really caring if they live or die as it simply does not matter. Don't get me wrong though, I love the idea of a big fight with huge teams, but it would still be nice to have an area that is truely challenging for the players due to how important each induvidual is to the team, because they are half of the team alone.

See the bigger picture![edit]

I just really want people to stop BITCHING about peoples good ideas just because they are perhaps similar to other games. So many times I have seen people attacking others simply because they put their ideas forward. Besides, just because a feature or an idea is similar to that in another game does not make it bad. People must stop being scared that GW will turn into an exact copy of other MMORPGs or GW2 is going to end up being exactly the same as GW1... which is kind of ironic if you think about it as clearly, everybody wants the game to change.

Make sure player skill is a true virtue[edit]

Really, don't make the game so easy so that every single player, even the most inexperienced has the ability to go into the hardest areas and kill the hardest bosses simply because they have some stupid skill like ursan equipped. Ursan ruined the game for good players as now those items that they used to exclusively be able to get simply because nobody else was good enough are worth almost nothing because any old newbie can go get them in only a few hours of gameplay. Just make sure that the overriding factor in what the player can do is the player's skill, not just some level, skill, form, mount etc.

Current Ambitions[edit]

Do really well in my exams

To get to beta test Guild Wars 2 - that would be AWESOME!!!

Learn more about the gaming industry - I am interested in a career in it but would like to know more fisrt.
