Dwarven Ale can be bought for 200g/point, Rice Wine is 400g/point[edit]

Thank you for fixing Drunkard. That 2-for-1 error had been there for a while.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:13, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Signage[edit]

{{subst:unsigned2|date/time|IP/name}}
{{subst:unsigned+|date/time|IP/name}}

You might have already figured out that the subst: bit substitutes the actual wikicode for the template/transclusion. I'm told that this ultimately puts less on the wiki server (which seems to need all the help it can get these days).

(Given how many templates we use to put together lists of quests, weapons, or daily activities...and how often those pages are viewed...I'm not sure it matters all that much. On the other hand, it takes me no extra time to add the subst:, so I do it whenever I expect that the results will remain static, e.g. {{unsigned+}} gets subst:, but {{bug}} does not.)

Regardless, thanks for helping out.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:36, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, thanks and no problem. I read that part about the subst: not straining the server as much. Hopefully I did it correctly afterwards at the Ask a game question page. I'm always interested in learning more about coding. Judas 01:41, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Shields[edit]

Thanks for updating/fixing the Shield article. You have obviously done more testing than I have; the changes I'm making are an attempt to keep the original data from the article while keeping it easy for most players to understand.

Based on various accounts, Longtooth's seems to be unusual, which is why I keep trying to add some sort of note back in. Also: you made an excellent point in the edit summary (regarding unconditional AR 6 shields), so I tried to add that to the chart.

I apologize in advance if I've mucked up the facts (again). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:50, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

No problem, it's an interesting game mechanic to be sure :). Longtooth's is unusual indeed. I added a comment about unconditional shields in parentheses instead of in the chart, so the chart only covers shields with a requirement. Judas 16:49, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
That looks good. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:13, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

the WTF masters of hammers/axes[edit]

I just came across this and wanted to enlighten you for the future. What you say is correct for 12 in the respective weapon mastery, because then that factor is 1. However, the formula for that is 2^( (5×attribute - 60) / 40). Critical hits equal a attribute rank pushed by +4, the known root(2) is 2^(5×4/40) = 2^(1/2). For your case I assumed the Axes guy to have 15 axe mastery (his wikipage agrees) and well, that gives only ≈51. Including 1.2 for a customized weapon resulted in a pretty satisfying 61.6 though, so there you go. However, I could not make up a fitting scenario for the hammer guy up to now, since his article states he has 15 mastery too. Maybe he couldn't afford a max weapon. –User ARTy sig.png 23:55, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I failed at taking into account attribute changes, but I've since read up on Damage calculation. Thanks for solving my problem :D. The hammer is still weird though... Then again, maybe I failed there somehow, but I don't think so. User Judas Sig.pngudas 01:08, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Thinking this issue through brought up that idea :D –User ARTy sig.png 01:34, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

There's a checklist[edit]

There's a checklist, guys

Sigh. I added the checklist with the expectation it would remind Guardians of the Wiki to review updates to Nick's remaining locations, but I've never held out much hope that the first editor would pay attention. (Even when I was the contributor.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:42, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Can't fault most people for not reading the entire code though, especially if they're new. Doesn't matter too much, I just thought I'd share the info in the comment :). User Judas Sig.pngudas 00:01, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Cracked armor breaks at +46, armor calculation[edit]

Thanks for the correction. (and you fixed armor calculation too, nice :P) I've done a little internet research and I found 45 or 46. In regards to the bug, has any progress been made in the past 5 months with the Live team to fix it? I think the underlying cause is that the game is programmed to react exactly as the calculation is described on the Armor calculation page. I'm working on a solution to this in pseudocode, do you know if anyone's created one? Zerohourrct 20:59, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

No, I only discovered and described the mechanics as they are (which is why I'm certain the breakpoint is 46 instead of 45). I did mention this buggy behaviour a few times on the official bug report forum but the devs seem to ignore it. I guess it would be a bit of a nightmare to fix.
