*Offers a milkbone biscuit* I had a nice time at PAX, but I had other plans so I didn't ask for a VIP ticket (which I could have had just by virtue of being a moderator). It was a wonderful time though, got three pieces of signed art, went to the Three Years of GW panel and I also gave a gift to the Anet folks: [1], which is related to my NPC namesake over here [2], ah and pictures from PAX are here [3]. A linky of stuff I learned at the panel can be seen at GWO here: [4] Kalidri 20:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
COOOOOOOOOOOOOOL...reading the "learned stuff" at the moment. Thx! --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 14:32, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

The Journey of a Thousand Steps[edit]

Because I am an assassin fanatic in pve, I have tried repeatedly to get a legendary survivor sin that reflects my play style on my main. That is, mostly melee with some deadly arts, caster and bowmanship. I'm on my fourth try and as of today, Visaly Durheim is just 20k short of indomitable. Last night I killed Shiro in Factions - though what sucks is that I have had masters on all the missions up to now, and due to the fact that I got banished repeatedly, the fight lasted into the expert category - I may grab someone who runs an ele today and get the masters (though it will be someone I trust). However, I am proud that I didn't chicken out and hide away from his explosion skill, I was in his face when he died. Also proud that throughout all the missions, despite some hairy over aggro moments, I've never quit out on my companions. Up today is a start on Nightfall Campaign and lots of elite caps! Kalidri 16:02, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Good luck :). I know how hair raising this path can be. --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 17:40, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Well, luck and all. I got a lag spike while hunting charr in eotn and died. Kind of irritating since last night I was feeling confident and bought him some elite kurzick armor, and I could have used that money on something else than on a character that is now basically a throw away. Oh well, was fun while it lasted, I should probably give up now. My fault as well for not immediately quitting out, I was feeling all macho and 'I'll be fine'...and that's never good. I refuse to 'cheat' a legendary survivor and insist on playing through the game, even while it is obvious that my connection is not the best and my instincts and tendency to be rather aggressive are just not suited to it!
Again. You go girl! Never give up!. --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 08:23, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
He's level 11 already, did the MOX mission on my main and settled into a bit of survivoring. Pretty good for 90 minutes of work on him. That's all I got the energy for though, I just did all this factions stuff a week ago on Visaly III, though I guess it just makes Visaly VI the concise edition. Did all primary and all secondary quests and any other quests lying around, though not the Quimang series yet...I come back and do those when I am level 15 or so for a little boost. The new imp summoner is pretty nice as well...been blasting away at stuff! Kalidri 06:00, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I can't wait to read you made your survivor.. am working on my third as you read this. Slow and steady going..crosses fingers for you (and me).--Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 20:44, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm on Visaly V. I got distracted and yakking to friends and alliance buddies while in zen daijun...SPLAT. I rerolled and two of my friends rushed me back to zen daijun in about 90 minutes. So now I am just going back and getting those delicious 3k quests I left behind, working on getting to level 20 and new 70AL armor before moving on to missions on the mainland. Thank goodness for good friends, they really stopped it from being a total downer! Kalidri 19:08, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Been casual. Got Vis to 20th level by mooching around Kaineng on the fedex quests. I got really tired on saturday night, was doing Mayhem in the Market with hero/hench and got a really bad pull. After trying to salvage the pull by running away and flagging...and making it worse, I returned to the guildhall. Planned on doing it today, but household chores got in the way...as well as my sometimes insatiable urge to write. Ack, and I needed to help folks with Slaver's and yet another FoW clear (inscribable storm bow weeeee!!!), all things I would not take a survivor to do (my main, Goska, died probably 12 times in slavers acting as pop up mine sweeper and spirit swapper...poor wee fellow...not to mention I think my european monk was asleep half the time...luckily for him, I am a mellow mine sweeper). Tomorrow maybe the survivor quest will continue! Kalidri 08:27, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to read about the ...SPLAT. Since my final Leg.Surv is Tyrian i do not have the same comforts as you. Except for the one about having good friends. You definitly need a fellow player you (a leg.surv) can trust to get through tough spots. ;-). --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 12:03, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

A fellow in the alliance traded me 10 assassin tomes for all of my monastery tokens to get booze. This was helpful, since I am being cheap when it comes to survivor stuff after the last disaster (I was given 37 tomes and 3 elite tomes that subsequently got wasted on Vis 3). Anyhow that was cool of him. I'm working through elona with my sister's mesmer very slowly, we just do a quest or a mission every evening. We've gotten to the quest leading to venta cemetary. I was planning to go start on Tyria, go through all the missions just for the heck of it, but everytime I get online, someone wants a monk for CoF, or my main assassin for a mission and it's so hard to say no. Suffice it to say that my survivor is not moving through anything all that quickly. I guess it's fine. Oh yeah, gratuitous picture of his 1k cheapie armor: [5]Kalidri 07:07, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Looking good :). I think this is the one to make it. --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 09:01, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Re rolling again, see news at bottom. Will be carrying on with Visaly IV in a couple days...but for now *LE SIGH* Kalidri 05:28, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Visaly VI is chugging along, now at 828k, helped on a full clear of FoW today (got a FoW scroll as a reward...no cool gold items!), easily got 140k xp added to title, well worth the percieved risk of running around in there, though I know FoW extremely well, so I am very comfortable there. Finished Factions, but will be going back to do Gyala hatchery for the protector title. I finished Tihark, so I am now at Kodash Bazaar in Elona. I ascended Vis early on in Tyria to get the 50k bonus, I used my Mountain Eagle pet from Eotn to kill my doppleganger after a few tries with daggers resulted in me finding it Waaaaay too close and porting out. So, cheated a bit on the dopple, but oh well. So that leaves me at dragon's lair. I've done the first mission on Vanguard in eotn, but I don't really want to use too many pve skills on vis, so I am not planning on doing much eotn, perhaps I will finish eotn as part of my final push to 1337k. Next stop, finish Nightfall. Kalidri 08:38, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Visaly VI at 927k. Today did several caps in elona, finished Dzagonur Bastion mission - a real heart-stopper with all the damage flying around. However, vis was a brave little dagger sin and went right up to the ele boss and dazed her, which made that fight go very fast. In Tyria just finished Dragon's Lair and ran to the start point of Ice Caves. Hoping to finish the three shiverpeak missions over lunch tomorrow, get to the isles the next day and finish tyria. Holding my breath in anticipation. --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 09:34, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Got to 1,061,980 and died. I feel stupid. I made a basic mistake. I went out capping with alliance friends, for Avatar of Melandru. She started following me, so I turned around and did a Temple Strike combo on her. Well, problem is, Avatar of Melandru is immune to conditions, something I forgot in that split second. So, rather than blinding my opponent, Vis was chopped into little pieces and there was not enough time to leave once I realised my mistake. I feel like an utter noob, should have ran and ran far from this opponent! This is what I get for choosing a non gimmicky way of getting the title. Probably try again at some point, but given that I just cried over a stupid game, going to take at least a week off of survivoring. All I can say is, best attempt so far. Kalidri 04:05, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

AARGGHHH..looking forward to the steps of Visaly V VII though. --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 06:43, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Poor thing <3 You'll get L3 one day soon and I'll still support you getting there :-) Pendaran 03:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

I did eventually make it about 8 months ago. Visaly the 8th made it, he finished factions, prophecies and eotn on his way to survivorship. I did not take him out elite capping in Nightfall again! As a reward, I bought him Asura armor What? 03:36, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Shameless Display of Bling[edit]

Just think this is a cool picture of my main [6] . For my 40th birthday, a friend (HELLO ARMY) gave me an armbrace, so I got a pair of torment daggers for my Goslet. Ah, and another shot from the same raptor fracas: [7]Kalidri 00:55, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Bird Brings Horror to Gaming Time[edit]

A gamer in Seatte, Washington reports that she has been terrorized by a bird, authorities say. The innocent gamer was enjoying a round of solo play in the Tihark Orchard Mission, when she alleges that her pet cockatiel destroyed her gaming enjoyment. The gamer's sister, a witness to the bizarre ornithological interference, claims that the gamer made several crude anatomical references in addition to the common intercourse and female dog vulgarities after the bird apparently alighted on the keyboard. Despite these crude, unladylike comments, the cockatiel continued to run across the keyboard, at one point crapping on the gleaming black surface. However, the gamer was unconcerned about the keyboard, for the purpose of her evening's entertainment, a survivor character, had been slain by relatively unchallenging mobs due to the deft wasd keyboard strikes of the randomly frolicing bird.

Though the gamer was very angry, she says she will allow the bird to remain in her household. Authorities have widely suggested keeping small pets away from keyboards, but sometimes even sensible people allow them to roam at large, causing generalized destruction in fantasy worlds. We have no reports as to what the gamer's character thought about this event. Though many have guessed that his final words were something like "AAAAARRRGGGGGHHHHH, it's as if my player's brain shrank to 1/100th normal size!!!!!".

Pixie the cockatiel would not return any calls and her cagemate Moon was not available for comment. It is suspected Pixie will not get her morning millet spray treat due to lingering antipathy from the gamer. Kalidri 05:28, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Oh, Farmgirl, Sweet Farmgirl[edit]

I promised my sister I would not restart my survivor for another week. I remade Visaly (the VII ...seven is lucky!)anyhow, because I could no longer stand looking at number 6 in my line up, and I had to fill in that spot because I had to put the deleted guy's stuff somewhere. I played number 7 long enough to get a monastery token, sell a scroll for 100g and open my chest and shove all the stuff on to the new guy. I was _sorely_ tempted to just whiz the guy through the initial factions stuff, but I did promise, so there is a mental "do not open until October" notice on the new guy.

Now for what I do when frustrated. I tend to farm. I farmed raptors for grog this weekend. Today I farmed Jarin, Sparkfly Swamp and that one area outside of Serenity temple for gems and granite. Because my main is hideously spoiled (and so are my 2nd and 3rd string favorites), the money is sitting there, waiting for the survivor to come back and spend it all. Telling the truth, never in three years of GW have I had such a trove of stuff and so little reason to spend it. I am half tempted to buy ectos for my favorite gw buddy so he can get his first set of FoW. Not only because he is awesome, but because I find male ranger fow armor darned sexy. I could stand watching him for a few hours in whichever dungeon.

Rambling on, I have to admit to a certain soothing-ness about farming. It isn't just the drops or the money, it's the betting with myself how fast I can do the run, if I can just fit in a last kill before the second Shadowform runs out, or the sliver armor, etc. Sheer silliness and a waste of time, but if the gaming bug bites, I have to scratch. Miniature Mad King's Guard[edit]

Here's one of my online photo repositories with some of my work stuffed in it - [8] - I am a little leery of putting my business site up here since this is Anet's site. It is a hodgepodge of various projects from several years' of work, some of it I am not too proud of...but hey I am not deleting it either :D Kalidri 19:18, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Stepped down as moderator at GWO[edit]

Mostly there just isn't much to do in the quiet gap between GW and GW2. I found myself getting easily irritated at trolls and their ilk, so I needed to just step aside from that. I want to remain a kind person. Whatever moderators may do, I've never been much for the wielding of punitive power - mainly I liked having a little bit of power. Anyhow, it's over and I am ready to hibernate until GW2 has some sort of major announcement. I doubt I will be missed by many. Kalidri 01:12, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
