Guild Wars Movie[edit]

moved from Talk:Main Page

I think it would be a cool idea if ArenaNet made a live-action movie using the GW storyline. I mean, the storylines in GW are so long and actually quite interesting that it would make an awesome set of movies. The content really is huge from the fall of Ascalon right through to EotN and also for the other campaigns. The cinematics that already exist per campaign almost accumulate a full length movie, come on ANet!! make a movie !

Just... No. I understand that you love the lore if Guild Wars, as do I, but a movie... That's just not a good idea. 24.20.252.53 18:55, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
I would have to agree. --'Mai Yi' talk 18:57, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Well actually, Blizzard have been pondering about making a WoW movie, and many people have thought about it, "Well. why not?", i mean, theres plenty of player base who might want to see it or even just fantasy addicts who might as well - (Heck, i myself havnt seen the (Element) Avatar series in a while, but i still saw the movie.) Im sure Arenanet would make a movie IF they had the budget, but Anet are currently putting all their coppers into making Guild Wars 2, Who knows? Maybe there might be a Guild Wars 2 movie. --NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon6.png 19:03, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
True that GW has plenty of lore for a movie or a comic but if it's gonna be a movie don't use real life actors because when you start making a movie of a game using real actors you are bound to fail, so if it's gonna be a movie it has to be an animated one. Which, if your using the same animation from such as Avatar (blue people), Its budget issues. Arenanet just cant afford it- as oppose to a company that rakes in about $10,000,000 a month.--NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon6.png 19:37, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
"when you start making a movie of a game using real actors you are bound to fail" Hey, c'mon, Prince of Persia was okay.
Anyway, this is kind of irrelevant to the main page. Should be in user space (or maybe feedback, I suppose). -- Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 19:41, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Kyo, thats a meh. comment, theres no reason it shouldnt be here. --NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon6.png 19:45, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Well, I can see how ANet might have a budget issue for making a movie with similar effects to Avatar, but just a suggestion really. Thing is that I love fantasy and mythology themed movies like LOTR, Eragon, Troy, Clash of the Titans etc. and i always watch the cinematics for GW cos its like a fantasy movie. ANet should write the whole lore down as a novel first, then publish it = money = movie!! - Krawndemon

Ha, I wouldn't mind one but it'd spoil it for anyone that doesn't have all 3 campaigns finished. You play the game to find out what happens in the story.. Still, I'd love a movie if they could somehow do it. WingsOfExilia 20:32, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
This is not a forum, a fansite is a better place for a discussion like this. WhyUser talk:Why 23:52, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I would watch to movie, but a good question is, Who is the main character? The story is a game, making you the main character. If you want it to be about the noble healer, it is. The wise sage, it is. The valant Warrior, it is. I don't know how they could cover everything, as every player would want it to follow somthing else. (and a team of heros-One of every profesion, would be to much development to fit into one movie) ~Nelson(n122333)User N122333 sig image.jpg 20:50, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
