User talk:LicensedLuny/Core Skin Dyeability

From Guild Wars Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

Please make a new section for any specific skin not already listed.

Please don't test dyeability on heroes or from equipment packs. Test with the item equipped on your own character or in regular inventory (not the new equipment packs.) I've seen cases where an item equipped on a hero would not open the dye preview, but the same item would dye when placed in inventory.

If reporting data, please include as much of the following information as you can

  • Exact name of the weapon/offhand and it's skin variant (if there's more than one skin for the name.)
  • Text color, max or non-max, inscribable or not (in the case of white items, did it come from a source known to produce inscribable or uninscribable loot?)
  • Does applying dye to it open the dye preview window or not? If it does open, does the dye affect appear to match what's currently shown here?
  • For loot drops from foes or chests ...
    • Date it dropped (if you know)
    • Map where it dropped (if you know)
    • Foe or type of chest that dropped it (if you know)
  • For collector or crafter items ...
    • Date if was obtained from the collector or crafter (if you know)
    • Which collector or crafter produced it (if you know)
    • Especially in the case of inscribable items, are you positive it's from a collector or crafter instead of dropped blue loot?

Thanks!

Please report dye test results on the new subpages below. This talk page was getting way too long to keep it all here. LicensedLuny 03:22, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

General Discussion, Questions & Comments[edit]

I'm surprised it took this long to notice this. You would think somebody before you would also document it. Guess not. Anyways they could always like update all the skins to a consistent dye attitude, but maybe part of it's unpredictability was planned, like the random nature of many other events. I have no other explanation. You would think as the games progressed previous core skins would be uniform or have their dye actions finalized. Previously Unsigned 07:08, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm fairly certain I'm far from the first player to notice this. Years ago there were multiple dye charts for flame artifacts on guildwiki. I, too, am surprised that so many of the skins with dye variables I've found here are not yet documented. Weird is good and interesting, so it's not something I want "fixed." However, it is something I would like to eventually get better explanation or at least documentation for on the main weapon stubs. I don't want to go asking for ANet response or updating the weapon articles without better documentation and example pictures here first, though. LicensedLuny 03:53, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
