User:LicensedLuny/Core Skin Dyeability/Smiting Rod

From Guild Wars Wiki

Please don't test dyeability on heroes or from equipment packs. Test with the item equipped on your own character or in regular inventory (not the new equipment packs.) I've seen cases where an item equipped on a hero would not open the dye preview, but the same item would dye when placed in inventory.

If reporting data, please include as much of the following information as you can

  • Exact name of the weapon/offhand and it's skin variant (if there's more than one skin for the name.)
  • Text color, max or non-max, inscribable or not (in the case of white items, did it come from a source known to produce inscribable or uninscribable loot?)
  • Does applying dye to it open the dye preview window or not? If it does open, does the dye affect appear to match what's currently shown here?
  • For loot drops from foes or chests ...
    • Date it dropped (if you know)
    • Map where it dropped (if you know)
    • Foe or type of chest that dropped it (if you know)
  • For collector or crafter items ...
    • Date if was obtained from the collector or crafter (if you know)
    • Which collector or crafter produced it (if you know)
    • Especially in the case of inscribable items, are you positive it's from a collector or crafter instead of dropped blue loot?

Thanks!

Smiting Rods[edit]

I have found loot versions of this which would not dye at all. Of the ones which dye, I've seen only one dye effect. LicensedLuny 04:08, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Unknown Source

  • A trusted friend tells me he has two max, gold, insc. "Smiting Rods," otherwise identical except for the merchant price. One will dye and the other will not. He says the one that will dye appears to match the dye chart here. LicensedLuny 05:18, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

From Prophecies

  • 12/4/09 - a white, non-max Smiting Rod dropped by a Blessed Griffon in Snake Dance will open the dye preview window. LicensedLuny 08:52, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Mar. 28, 2010 a max gold non-insc "Smiting Rod" from a Locked Chest in HM Witman's Folly will dye. Yellow dye makes it look darker and purple-ish, like the dye chart here. LicensedLuny 01:31, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Mar 31, 2010 a max purple non-insc "Smiting Rod" from a Shiverpeak Chest in NM Lornar's Pass will dye. Yellow dye makes it look darker and purple-ish, like the dye chart here. LicensedLuny 03:20, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

From Factions

From Nightfall

  • Feb 4, 2010 - a white, non-max, non-insc "Smiting Rod" dropped by Josinq the Whisperer in NM Resplendent Makuun will not dye. LicensedLuny 12:17, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
  • Mar. 3, 2010 - a max, gold insc. "Smiting Rod" from HM Holdings of Chokhin or Vehjin Mines will not dye. (I got it as a drop today, but can't remember for sure if it came from a foe or a Locked Chest in one of those two maps.) LicensedLuny 00:15, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Dec. 19, 2010 - I headed out to vanquish a Desolation map, and opened chests along the way. I got two r10 max, purple, insc. Smiting Rods from Locked Chests. Seemingly, the only difference between them is their merchant value once ID'ed and the non-max inscription they dropped with. But one dyes, and the other does not ...
    • a max, purple, insc. "Smiting Rod" from a Locked Chest in HM The Alkali Pan will dye. Yellow dye makes it look purple, like the dye chart on the skin's article. It dropped with no wrapping and a 13vH "Too much information" inscription attached. LicensedLuny 02:56, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
    • max, purple, insc. "Smiting Rod" from a Locked Chest in HM Crystal Overlook will not dye. It dropped with no wrapping and a 14^50 "Strength and Honor" inscription attached.LicensedLuny 02:56, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

From Eye of the North

  • Feb 7, 2011 - a blue, insc. non-max "Smiting Rod" from a Berserking Aurochs in NM Varajar Fells will not dye. It dropped with a 13wH "Don't Fear the Reaper" inscription attached and no wrapping. LicensedLuny 09:18, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
