User talk:MisterPepe/MonkWeaponSwaps
This is a good article, well worth seing if you could fit this into a monk guide. Although you say its not in the neutral POV used on wiki guides, you talk about many base principles which are common practice within the game, i.e. energy hiding etc, and on that merit alone it should be added to a general monk guide to share with others. - Very interesting, well done..—Lupo(talk) 16:33, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
- Gosh. Where was this a couple months ago. Great info, very useful to a new monk. I had to hit up a couple of user forums and wait for responses to trickle in slowly before I had most of these answers. Thulsey 07:43, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
This is a fab article! Are there any unique items which meet some of the criteria? Psy Doll [DNRC] 19:39, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, first, thanks, everybody XD
- PsyDoll: Yes, there are. The +5 energy/+20% enchanting item (used in a possible efficiency set option) is found in both the Totem Axe and Rajazan's Fervor. Ironclaw can be used in a -nrg set (though it's probably a little expensive for the job, those inscriptions are pretty cheap). Tragically, there are no +5 energy/+30 health unique martial weapons.
- Shields would include Chumab's Pride (blunt), Keht's Aegis (Slashing), Forgotten Shield (Tactics) (Cold), and Geoffer's Bulwark (Piercing). Forgotten Shield (Strength) is an option against Earth Magic, but not the best option due to the strength requirement. It'll work, but you'll get less benefit from it if you ever do a Warrior secondary. Note the lack of options for Fire damage and Lightning damage. Fortunately, these are somewhat less important types of damage to worry about ;)
- As far as focus items go, all of the Straw Effigy (unique) items are pretty good; there's versions for each monk attribute, and are HSR/+30 health. +Energy sets can get away with using Amiresh's Piety or Miella's Focus, because most monk builds spec at least 9 points in Protection Prayers anyway. -Energy sets should use a Forgotten Fan or Frozen Fan.
- I'll probably incorporate that information into the article when I get a chance. Ajax, I'll see if I can split it up a bit - the whole article is pretty subjective, mainly because I was trying to explain how I came to each conclusion, but there are probably pieces that I can turn into good articles. - I use Byzzr's Benediction in my offhand setup for the +30/HSR (only 10%, but easily farmed...) Gotta get me a good +15/-1 offhand, though :( Love my Totem Axe - Thulsey - talk 06:52, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- I actually take back the part about no +5/+30 - the unique spear Prayer of the Forgotten will do the trick. The other two forgotten shields (Forgotten Shield (Command) and Forgotten Shield (Motivation)) will also take care of those other two types of elemental damage, but still have the shortcoming of not having a tactics req. =P I just forgot the paragon items XD
- The 10% HSR is okay, but not really as good as the 20%. It might make sense if you're using spells from a bunch of attributes (Deny Hexes, Gift of Health, and Restore Condition), as it may give a better overall recharge, but I'd typically stick with the one that'll give the biggest bonus on the skills you use the most. Nice tutorial, will be using this guide for my upcoming Monk. --Ridz16 02:25, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Main namespace?[edit]
Isn't this guide main namespace material? But I would do a replace all of "monk" to "caster". -- (CoRrRan / talk) 20:18, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- It'd need a couple updates first, but it might be. I'd still like to make it NPOV, though MisterPepe talk 20:20, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- On the other hand, NPOV may be nice, but POV isn't too horrible IMO. But since it's your article, whatever suits you. :) -- (CoRrRan / talk) 20:22, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- Eh. Either way, it needs an update with some new stuff I've learned. I haven't had a chance due to that whole AVT thing I've been working on. MisterPepe talk 20:30, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- You're soo lazy Pepe. :-) -- (CoRrRan / talk) 20:11, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for making this, so we don't. This should definately be in the main namespace, imo. 220.101.180.170 14:15, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Also, might wanna mention 40/40 sets. 220.101.173.16 12:05, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Definately needs a main page TempestShadow 04:20, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
