General Discussion[edit]

2 things. 1)this is the wrong page. You want Category:Underpowered skills. 2)This is a highly subjective category. And what good does pointing out these skills do? Take that to the skill suggestion pages. --JonTheMon 16:59, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Firstly, that category didn't exist until not too long ago, when I created it shortly before adding the three listed skills. Secondly, yes, I agree that this is a highly subjective category (as was implied with "Because of the nature of this page, I do expect that there will be a lot of controversy"), which is why I've asked that inclusions be stapled with the reasons behind them, so that others may be aware of what the poswter was thinking when they made said post. I didn't create this page as a QQ thread; I created this page with the intent that viable suggestions could be posted and discussed by the players here, so that those that are reasonable can be taken to the devs' skill suggestion pages, with documentation and reasoning, as opposed to "I think it should be this way no." Try ArenaNet:Skill feedback, the individual skill pages and their talk pages, or your own user space. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 17:13, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Ah, thank you, I was hoping for something more along those lines; I'd been looking at the skill feedback on Izzy's pages (and that was a bloody mess, IMO) when I created this. Though, yes, I do agree that this could be moved to my own user space. Raine Valen 17:21, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Moved to my userspace (obviously). Raine Valen 18:00, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Link For Great Justice to Strength with duration scaling, perhaps? Also the second suggestion for Cultist's Fervor is bad simply because any skills that increase attributes by X amount for a duration are bad for the game--especially blood (bloodspikes, in this example, would become rampant). For Extend Conditions, the clause: lose all enchantments is needed because it could lead to major abusability. Also, just a side note, but Icy Shackles is still decent. They increased the energy to 10, which probably wasn't the best way to go about nerfing it (since FC water mesmers still are pretty much immune to interrupts), but it's definitely usable in its current state. Magebane is also fine as is. Your first form of Shadow Form would be really bad; you definitely could get around the health sacrifice with enough healing. The second one is an interesting idea, but would definitely hinder the person using it--people would see you using it and immediately wand you, porting you around all over the place. Finally, might I suggest adding Withdraw Hexes to the list? This skill is probably the funniest skill in the game; if you really need to use it, you'll only use it once--hex overload causes this skill's recharge to skyrocket. Self Diversion/Hum sig, basically. In summary:

  • Link "For Great Justice!" with Strength
  • Shadow Form buff 1 would be OP
  • Withdraw Hexes sucks and I don't know how to add it to the list.

Unlinked skills CAN be moved to a scaling attribute. A long time ago, Crippling Shot used to not be in an attribute.

  • Old Crippling Shot 10e 1r "Elite Bow Attack. If Crippling Shot hits, target foe is crippled for 8 seconds. Cannot be blocked."

Later on Anet decided it was overpowered, so it got nerfed.

  • Crippling Shot 15e 1r "Elite Bow Attack. If Crippling Shot hits, target foe is crippled for 1...7...8 seconds. Cannot be blocked." It scaled with Marksmanship.
If you could, would you mind splitting the above post into the respective sections for the skills named? User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 10:10, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
I already posted a note on Extend Enchantments about that, pretty difficult to heal around Shadow Form 1 (it's not just hostile spells), Shadow Form 2 probably would end up with epic wanding parties, and feel free to add Withdraw Hexes; this isn't my page, it's a community effort. If you precast regen spells, you could pretty much overcome the downside; Troll Unguent would also be a counter, as would some other stances. It'd basically make you one of the best flag runners/whatever EVAR. Especially since you really wouldn't need to keep it up all the time; just when you're about to run in or whatever. Of course, you'd lose a lot of utility from the current ritualist runners, but you still get the idea, right? It'd pretty much make someone unkillable when they wanted. -Sorale

You forgot Flare, Stone Daggers and Ice Spear. Just about everyone considers them underpowered because they cost too much energy. 145.94.74.23 08:46, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Feel free to add them, I think they deserve to be here. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 10:10, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm allowed to add skills myself? Because I know of a few more heavily debated Elementalist skills...145.94.74.23 08:34, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
