Jeff Strain

Could you please clarify some of the questions and confusion surrounding his departure? Is he still with Anet, and if not how will him leaving affect GW2 development? What were the reasons for him leaving? If you could comment would help stop the rampant speculation on the fan sites.

Jeff left ArenaNet last year to join NCsoft. He has not been involved in Guild Wars 2 development in well over a year, because when he joined NCsoft, he started working there, and stopped working at ArenaNet and Guild Wars 2. So this means that Jeff Strain leaving NCsoft will not affect Guild Wars 2 development at all. I am not able to discuss the reasons for him leaving. Everything that NCsoft wants to say about their employee's departure has already been addressed by their PR team. I know this isn't a lot of info, but to be perfectly honest with you, I don't have any details of his departure. I know as much as you know, and as much as there is in public. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 01:13, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Heal as One elite not changed?

Good Ranger update, but why didn't you change Heal as One to work as Comfort animal? It's an elite and this change could and by all means would be justified (At least for PvE, but PvP would be neat too as it is an elite after all). --SkyHiRider 16:34, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

I want to keep this out of suggestion land, so I'll be careful on my wording here. I think that choosing not to do that was a wise decision. The balance between Heal as One and Enraged Lunge would be largely skewed then, with little reason to ever choose anything but Heal As One. As it stands, the self-heal capabilities of Heal as One are what give it its elite status. I won't comment on whether the degree of healing is enough or not as I haven't and don't plan to crunch those particular numbers, but if it turns out that Heal as One would need a buff in the future, I wouldn't be surprised if it came in the form of greater healing as opposed to giving it the ability to replace Charm/Comfort. Keep in mind that while Comfort and Heal as One do have healing and resurrection ability overlap, and perhaps therefore lessen the streamlining of your bar, you are still getting two heals on your bar which can both be used in a pinch.--Jenosavel aka That Pet Lady 17:47, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
True, but Heal as one was basically an improved Comfort animal, but now it is similar, but without the added upgrade. And if it was balanced before the update to have an improved Comfort Animal, why isn't it balanced now (PvE)? --SkyHiRider 17:56, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Maybe they wanted to see the impact of the new Comfort Animal before changing more skills and having to un-do more afterwards? User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 18:13, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
^This^ ...some devs in this conglomerate can't even fart without datamining it --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 20:05, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Please don't ever change PvP pets to not require charm - they've had enough problems in the past and really shouldn't be viable for PvP again. Now, if we could get PvE pets to leave a corpse, but not PvP ones... -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 20:44, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
And... welcome to suggestion land... :/ User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 08:49, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Live Team is aware of this concern/critique. I asked Linsey about it, but she didn't have time to discuss. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 00:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Random Arena synchers report abuse

Hi Regina, as you must be aware, some players 'synch enter' Random Arenas (not the objective of my post). They usually go to a 'deserted' district to increase their chances of entering together, as everyone knows. This isn't the problem I want to report, as you must be tired of hearing this, but is related to it.

Occasionally I play with japanese friends in PvE who use the Asia - Japanese district, and when they lead a party, my character's default district is changed from America - English to Asia - Japanese until I change it back. Yesterday, after playing with this friend I went to Random Arena. Not noticing I was in the Japanese district, I hit 'Enter Battle', and saw myself in a team with 3 members of same guild. The three of them abused me verbally, reported me for leeching and told me to not 'interfere on their business'. And I got hexed with dishonorable. :(

I wonder if something can be done about this. I'm not pissed off or upset, I was just a bit sad because the whole situation was extremely unfair. Thankyou. --Sensei 12:05, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Sad, isn't it? King Neoterikos 12:47, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Send your screenshots of the incident to support, noting their character names and the time (with timezone) when that happened. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 16:49, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
And don't expect anything to happen because it's Arena Net... --Boro 10px‎ 17:04, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
I think I read somewhere that this is allowed to do SoloLovesCakeUser SoloLovesCake RBC.png‎ 17:13, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
This is allowed to do because it seems that nobody at Arena Net knows what rand() does --Boro 10px‎ 17:14, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
I stopped playing RA because of syncers. --Boro 10px‎ 06:07, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
That seems to me like abuse of the /report function, so at the very least it should be possible to do something about it – even if it's just a 3-day account suspension to the people involved... —Sirius (talk) 18:53, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
