Guild Halls

Please don't copy stuff from GuildWiki straight onto this Wiki, unless the main contributors of those pages on GuildWiki have released their work under GFDL or Public domain. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 06:14, 20 March 2007 (EDT)

It's from a GW SotG article, which is allowed. --Santax 12:16, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
Really? Ohh, didn't know that. And we ARE allowed to copy GW.com-stuff to the wiki? -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 12:30, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
You may also content obtained from Guild Wars, its web sites, manuals and guides, concept art and renderings, press and fansite kits, and other such copyrighted material that ArenaNet has made available to the general public, to the site. All rights, title and interest in and to such content shall remain with ArenaNet or NCsoft, as applicable, and such content is not licensed pursuant to the GFDL. --Santax 12:33, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
It should retain its arenanet copyright. That should be true for text as well as images. Any changes to arenanet text retains their copyright not GFDL as they become derivative works. We have tags for arenanet images don't we? Do we have something for regular articles? Vladtheemailer 12:36, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
I don't think so... but I think what allows us to post that stuff is that the wiki is hosted part of the official Guild Wars site (see domain). --Santax 12:38, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
I think there needs to be a tag like {{arenanet image}} for text. We need to indicate that the copyright is different otherwise a 3rd party might use the text arguing its under GFDL whereas its actually Arenanet copyright. Vladtheemailer 12:42, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
You should prolly take that up with a sysop... I did have at one point a Template:Spork stating that "this text appears to have been taken from an official source and is up for a complete rewrite", but it seems that the admins deemed it unnecessary. --Santax 12:44, 20 March 2007 (EDT)

Image sizes/naming

Please use a smaller image size - eg 200px - in the infoboxes or the boxes swamp the article. Thanks :) Also, please upload your images using the pre-existing (red linked) file names in the infoboxes, not your personal file names. You can do this by clicking on the red link to upload your file to that filename. Fox 05:54, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Yeah, I was just going through this guy's contributions since I noticed he uploaded a load of stuff from the fsk and didn't link any of them to their pages. Sorry about the image sizes :P --Santax 05:55, 30 March 2007 (EDT)
Oops, my bad - the default img size is 196px, and I should know better as I put this on the template page *blushes* Fox 06:12, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

.JPG vs .jpg

please use the latter over the former --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:217.16.16.225 .

Yeah, it was a mistake, it's the way MS Paint automatically saves them. --Santax 10:12, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

User skin

continued in April
Would you be opposed to having your User:Santax/monobook.css updated to the latest User:Smurf/GuildWars.com skin.css? The reason for this is that the hotlinked external images in the old skin version causes a security issue (see Guild Wars Wiki talk:User page#Custom skin remote links). Also, note that image policy has been updated to include "All images used on the Official Guild Wars Wiki should be uploaded here. Do not hotlink to images on other websites (including the Official site." --Rezyk 16:01, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
