Policy lawyering

Since we are just filling the admin noticeboard (not that it matters, it will be moved later). The "offensive" tag is just determined by sysop discretion, but the user page policy is pretty clear in demanding user page content to follow the game's terms and conditions pointing to this link. Unless/until the link is replaced to point to the EULA only (and until its actually stated by Anet that the wiki is exempt from the Rules of Conduct in particular), that kind of content would be deemed forbidden by the user page policy, not because it may be offensive, but because of the "must do what anet says" part of the policy.--Fighterdoken 05:31, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

And secondly because English has this tradition of using masculine pronouns as the general case of s/he/it. Drama, theatrics and general schmoobery

Yes, I made that word up. First of all, doing something to annoy the rest of the users here is not a good thing. You've already seen how the current events with Mgrinshpon have played out, and yet you continue to post that story and generally harass users who have tried doing a good thing. Yes, sure, go ahead and discuss something if you think it was unfair - but do not do it in such a way that personally attacks or offends that user.

If you disagreed with the removal and block of Mgrinshpon and his text, take it up with the sysop who enacted that, not the users who notified the administrators of it. If you intend to cause disruption for the sake of causing disruption - which your copying of the story on your userpage caused - then think again about doing it. I'm glad you removed it from your userpage after seeing how other users felt about it, but doing it in the first place must have had that cross your mind.

If you think there are problems, flaws or unresolved issues concerning the user pages and what is housed in them, by all means carry on with the discussion that's ongoing. But do so constructively. -- Brains12 \ Talk 14:55, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Peronsally, Grishes block for trolling and vandalizing i have no problem with, what i do have a problem with is the readiness at which people report the smallest thing on the admin noticeboard. The story, Albeit mature and generally really weird, was just a joke, if you look at it that way it's really quite funny, but people are so quit to jump to the offense just because it's a little dirty, I dont know if you heard any comedians recently but thats what their jokes mainly comprise of, a shocker ending, and sexually explicit matieral. I dont think admins should go mucking with peoples user spaces just because a user cant take a joke. and as for users concern. The point of my objection was not even so much the adult content, but rather to total lack of pertaining to Guild Wars, or the Guild Wars Wiki, which is suppose to be the focus of user pages. The fact that the adult content would generally be seen as being offensive to a large portion of the community, as well as being totally inappropriate for the younger members or the community only points to your lack of good judgment. I wont deny that. But not everyones userpage needs to be about Guild wars, thats what the articles are for. And what is there honestly to write about GWW, its a wiki. The childrens wouldnt even know about it if there wasnt so much controversy. It was on grinshes userspace, hidden under a "Read more" label, and only if you frequented grinshes page, would you even know about it at all, until you got all the "I'm offended by almost everything" crowd spamming each others talk pages, and the admin noticeboard, did a majority of people even know of its existance.--Shadowsin 00:54, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
