This isnt runescape, that game blows, why would we want guild wars to be like that? Also grinding is not fun, not fun at all.--Shadowsin 03:44, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

NOO!!!!! This is why I quit Runescape! Grinding for 50k pure ess is NOT FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!Mcdertr 16:51, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

No one is telling you to grind. Having a hobby system like fishing and cooking is only for fun when you get bored of fighting. You grind because you want to and that's your fault.
Yes, i know but introduce this idea and you also bust one of guildwars main points : items ( other than weapons) should not affect gameplay whatsoever. Besides, honestly : BORED OF FIGHTING!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! if you're bored of fighting, just quit and play RS Mcdertr 19:04, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
This could add realism to game and as already said something else to do besides fighting. Yes, there is a war going on, maybe the whole world is on brink of destruction, but sometimes you just don't care or you want a brake from all of it... Skills like farming and fishing (etc.) could do just that. It could also give more unique feel to your character.
In any case, everything depends on the level of integration tradeskills and gathering activities have with the rest of the game. By example, Runescape mix both, making it almost forced to grind tradeskills if you want to progress in questing. On the other hand, Everquest tradeskill system (while a nightmare even worse than RS) was balanced pretty well since players didn't have to even engage in them to finish the game. In the first few expansions of EQI, with very few exceptions that could be counted with one hand, anything you could get with tradeskills could be easily replaced for cheaper and more accesible alternatives.
Since we have hints that point towards something like tradeskills in GW2, i seriously hope it's something along the lines of the "optional-you-do-it-if-you-are-nuts" from EQI instead of the "do-it-or-fail-at-the-game" that is RS.--Fighterdoken 23:12, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

About Runescape and GW

This may not be runescape, but you don't need to state the obvious...even three times. I removed the 3 "GW is not RS" comments from the main article. The being of GW has nothing to do with RS and the being of RS has nothing to do with GW. Also, and the same applies to GW/WoW complainers, if GW and RS had nothing in common then GW charaters could not move and have armor, weapons, nor items. So please do not complain about similarities with another game, complain about the problem itself, such as this mechanism including some form of grind ect. --Elven Chaos Elven's Talk Page 19:24, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

NO!!!!! i got guild wars to escape the mmo power houses that skip fun for profit!--Gen winter 02:29, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Elven Chaos. Shut up! Guild Wars 2 will be original, but will have something in common with other games. Deal with it. Say if something is a good idea or not, not if Runescape (which sucks) or World of Warcraft (which, I think, also sucks) has something slightly similar to it. azaleachat 18:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Great idea! Now we can call the game "GUILD WARS 2" THE COOKERY CORNER.
