Contents |
The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign when posting an issue.
Before posting an issue here, consider the following:
- As this is a noticeboard and not a talk page, please refrain from discussing.
- Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
- Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
- Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comments instead.
- Mediation requests between users should only be made if a resolution could not be reached between users.
- For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.
In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.

- Edit the Vandal issues section
- At the top of the list, use the
{{vandal|IP address or username here}}template. Provide a short and neutral summary of the issue
- Creating a new request — non-vandal cases (e.g. user issues, page protection/undeletion, etc.)
- Add a new section (+) to the page and enter an appropriate title (without using templates or links) in the subject field.
- In the edit field, enter a short and neutral summary of the issue. Use the
{{user|ip address or username here}}template to refer to users involved with the case and provide links to important pages or edits.
As a sign of courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any involved user.

Starting with the most recent vandals.

- vandalized our discussion page today also says in edit history Sliver Edge. We believe this is a person that was kicked from our guild for trolling as he did it today after getting back in and kicked with an alt account. both the IP address listed and the Sliver Edge name shows in edit history the Sliver Edge page has been deleted it says. can you block him from doing this please?--

This might be User:Sparky, the Tainted, who just made a typo in editing Defy Pain (PvP). (The same IP posted a reasonable note on the relevant talk page.) However, it's really not like Sparky to make a mistake and leave it unfixed, so I fear it could also be a vandal. Plus the same IP made a vandalistic edit to Defy Pain, so I'm leaning towards vandal and griefing a registered user. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:12, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Checkuser says it's not Sparky. Perhaps asking on his/her talk page would be appropriate, although I agree, it does seem to be a vandal. I've blocked the IP for a day, I guess we'll see if it continues. ~FarloTalk 01:54, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for blocking. Sparky hasn't contributed in 6-7 months (so perhaps CheckUser cannot verify against an IP address). However, Sparky's a reliable past contributor; I doubt very much that they would vandalize any page (typo? sure, but the edit to the pve skill was clearly graffiti). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:11, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Are main space talk pages suppose to be deleted if its associated article was deleted, even though the talk page had the deletion discussion relating to the deletion of the article? If no, then Talk:Bonus effect should be restored, since that discussion may help users in the future determine if that page should be created. --Silver Edge 08:28, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

- For reference's sake, GW2W has gw2:Category:Orphaned talk pages for this purpose (and the discussions are kept on their original pages).
- Edit: forgot I'm an admin again and can view deleted pages. Anyway. I generally prefer to keep talk pages when they have substantial or important discussion which could be relevant to other cases or that same case should someone else recreate the page. That doesn't really apply to this talk page (it's 3 short comments regarding one skill that one user interpreted in a way that most others wouldn't/didn't). pling

[edit] Partywide IMS and Related Skills
I recently updated the "related skills" lists of various IMS skills, because I disagreed that some of the skills in the lists were related. But also because I wished for them to be more specific and as so narrowed down. Afterall, there are specific Pages for skills that are closely related all up, such as IMS, IAS etc. However some of my edits were reverted, and when confronting the person who reverted them (which I did in a somewhat rude manner, without it being the intention, and for that I apologize), I was met with hostility, and continuous refusal of discussing or focussing on the disagreement, and rather use personal attacks (however discreet they might have been). The user who reverted my edits is Thrain (talk • contribs • logs • block log). Exmaples of hostility include make obviously poor examples that the user attached as being my opinion (making me sound stupid) "by your logic Seed of Life shouldn't be linked to Healing Seed". "Seed of Life and Healing seed shouldn't be linked, they can just check the enchantment page if they want to use them!". Examples of lacking interest in discussing include "Yes, 6 linked skills is better than 2 or 3 in this case. Why? Because there are 6 skills that related to it."
