For some reason "/etc <no white space here> /anything" in the edit box cause:

For obvious reason i cant show the exact string, i think someone should be able to test to confirm this. It is very silly that any path containg "etc" triger a server error. While it not related to the wiki directly, i was wondering if that could be fixed. --Bob 22:55, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

There used to be a line at the bottom of every page saying how many times it had been viewed. Does anybody know why it's gone? I found it quite interesting. :) Biscuits 00:12, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

On the original wiki it was disabled so that the wiki could use squid or a similiar caching system that allowed the wiki to serve the pages from cache instead of recreating them every time someone visited the page. Basically squid works so that it serves the viewer a cahced version unless the page is changed in some way. With this counter the page changes every time it is visited, so squid would do absolutely nothin, ever. I guess it must be a similiar reason on this wiki. --

Yea, PvX uses squid and our Special:Statistics shows that we have a total of 0 page views ever :P Since squid handles the page views, mediawiki never sees them so the counters would be pointless. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 07:31, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

This was mentioned on the Community Portal but apparently nobody found out the reason for it before. I don't think it had anything to do with the wiki upgrade since it showed up for a while after the upgrade. --Kakarot

How do you semi lock a page I used the code of the main wiki but it doesnt work on here. The lock which only prevents new members and unregistered members to not edit the page. --რiɫՒ¤§ 07:12, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

How do i get a content box on my talk page so i don't have to see different things right under each other? Like on the account, game, and wiki help pages that have content boxes with a title then what the person say under the title.--King Ranik 10:40, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

The table of contents is created automatically once you have more than X number of sections. I'm not sure what the number is that triggers it's creation.--

For a page like, for example, Guild Wars Wiki:Request for adminship/Y0 ich halt, using the category without |Y0 ich halt will sort that page under "R" for "Request". Putting the |Y0 ich halt in specific category labels will put you under "Y" for those specific categories. I am wondering about the maps. Why is tyria(proph and eyes to the north) maps are the only map that doesn't have outpost on them?--King Ranik 16:51, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

(Here let me ask it differently): Why are the battle isle map and tyria(Prophecies) are the maps that don't have outpost/mission areas/towns on it while the other games have do have those places on it and with the exporable area name to?--King Ranik 20:28, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

We simply haven't gotten around to standardizing maps. The maps were made by different people, so therefore with different styles, as there was no map-making guideline back then. Calor

[edit] faulty Nightfall quest list

Hi, The quest 'Honing Your Skills' is not clickable in the list of Istan Quests (Nightfall), and the quest 'Hole of Istan' is not in that list altogether. Could someone please see to that?--Skabuoy 18:32, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I've fixed the Honing your Skills quest but am not sure why Hole of Istan doesn't show up although it looks like all three quests to get to Eye of the North don't show up in their respective campaign list. --Kakarot

Im pretty sure they arent in the lists because they are not primary quests. If you go HERE You will find them.

The list is made up of ALL quests (including festival quests and stuff), so the reason it's not listed because it's not a primary quest can be dismissed, I would say. ;-)

(Reset indent) The reason it doesn't appear on the Nightfall quests is because it is actually an Eye of the North Quest. If you don't have Eye of the North, it is not available to you.-- Wynthyst 20:14, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

That reason is not viable either, because the quests Terror in Tyria and Plague in Cantha are also only available if you have Prophecies and Factions, and they are listed. That makes 2 out of 3 'passage' quests that are listed.--Skabuoy 21:22, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Actually, it is viable, because what Wynthyst is referring to is the actual classification of the quest based on its wiki page. If you go to the wiki page for Terror in Tyria, you'll notice that the infobox on the right-hand side lists it as a Nightfall quest. If, on the other hand, you look at Hole in Istan's quest page, it's listed as an Eye of the North quest. Hence, Hole in Istan gets put into the Eye of the North quests list, while Terror in Tyria gets put into the Nightfall quests list, because the DPL generation script only knows what the pages list, it's just a computer.

So what it comes down to is a consistency issue - should transition quests to other campaigns be designated as being of the campaign they transition from, or the campaign they transition to? Right now, we have some that are the former (Terror in Tyria, Plague in Cantha, etc) and some that are the latter (Hole in ____). They really should all be one or the other. (Edit: My personal opinion is that should be classified as belonging to the campaign they transfer from, since those who do not own the originating campaign won't care about the quest to go to the destination, as they can get their by different means from whatever campaign they do own.)

I've updated the pages for the 3 EotN transition quests to be classified under their respective campaigns. Purging the caches of the DPL lists for each campaign's quests should make them appear in those lists.

Well, you can pretty much do anything with your userpage's content, so yes, you can take stuff from there to your talk page. Since you already have a talk-page created, moving is not an option, so you can just cut (ctrl-x) the content from you userpage, and paste it (ctrl-v) in the talk one. Or you can just delete the content of your userpage and ask your question in one of our help sections.--Fighterdoken 17:59, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

I am trying to figure out how to sort a table with columns that are alpha(numeric) and numeric in the same table. What I am getting is not what I am after... my table is sorting

like this	instead of this
1,245	504
1,342,454	1,245
504	5,234
5,234	1,342,454

Any clue how I can sort that column numerically (would I have to padleft with 0's in a <span>?) Code I am working with is here trying to sort the Value column correctly. Problem is, it's being subsituted and I am not sure how that affects the sorting. — Rappy 02:20, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Hmm. First, it's not possible to have it sorted automatically, only via the buttons to have the user decide. And second, it seems as if the current script is not working with grouped numbers.. I was working on a sort-script myself a while ago, maybe I should look at that again.. poke | talk 08:54, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Yeah I wasn't wanting to sort it automatically (that has to be done with creating the table) ... if you notice, it sorts fine (normally) for the Named Titles, but as far as the numerics go, it does not sort them correctly, (it sorts them based on alphabetic sorting rather than numeric) and I am not sure how to do that in the same table. Meta wiki has an overview here that explains how to do it there with {{smn}} but we don't have that here, and I am not sure how to impliment it correctly. — Rappy 16:33, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I'm having trouble with my monobook.js. If I try to save the page, I keep getting a blank page with "The specified URL cannot be found". It's quite annoying, as I have some interesting things I'd like to add. Does anyone know what's causing this? I'm using Firefox 2.something if that's any help. -- Mini Me 11:02, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Please see this section (especially my comment) for a reason why it is happening & how to fix. Btw. you are using Galil's javascript tool for deleting pages (which is the reason why you have that error); note that you absolutely don't need it as long as you are not able to delete pages. What extension is the image using? I believe the wiki only allows .jpg, .gif, and .png, so if it's a .bmp or something like that it won't upload. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 19:32, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, at first I was using .psp and .bmp, but then Eloc told me to try .jpg or .gif. So I tried .jpg and yet again the messege came up. I'm using Paint Shop Pro to make a pic file, and I tried Paint at first which gave me the .bmp. Those are the only two programs I have that can do pics. --Lustre Of Havoc 02:37, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

The other issue that I have had in the past is that the wiki is case sensitive. In other words, it has to be .jpg, not .Jpg or .JPG. Try renaming the file.

Expounding on what Calor said above: try [[Image:Foo.jpg|45px]]. The |##px limits the width and scales the image.
