[edit] Black Moa Chick

Hi does anybody know about the Black Moa Chick? If you do, I want to know if the Black Moa Chick will grow up or get bigger. I want to know if it's just a miniature or if it can grow up to be a Black Moa Bird. 99.252.163.223 01:06, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Just a mini doesnt get any bigger. Image:User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 01:09, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Also, please don't double post your questions. -- Wyn talk 01:17, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
You get the black moa Bird from Beak of justiceDarkness?,a quest within the kurzick territory of factions,As for the Mini black moa chick it is got by the cross-campain hunt.Which you already know.its just ment to show off, practicly. How do i make something like This...

into something like this?

Thx for your time, --Neil2250 13:30, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

I mean as in the code,Sorry :P --Neil2250 13:33, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
You mean you want it to be something like User Neil Fan or User ScareCrow Fan or something along those lines? Just go to Template:User Neil Fan or Template:User ScareCrow Fan and then create that page and put the userbox code that you want onto/into that page, then when it's saved all you have to do is type User Neil Fan or User ScareCrow Fan and the userbox will come up. I can do it for you if you want. Just tell me what you want the template to be called. -- My Talk Lacky 13:39, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
User Neil2250 Freind , i suppose O_o,and if its not to much to ask, could you upload the picture in the box again so i can see how many people actualy keep them >_< --Neil2250 13:44, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
You You mean you want the scarecrow picture under a different name? Alright, I can do it easily. Also, it's spelled "friend", not "freind". =P i before e. -- My Talk Lacky 13:48, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Alright, your userbox template is done. Just use User Neil2250 Friend wherever you want the userbox to appear. -- My Talk Lacky 13:56, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

To Randomly Change Photos on april fools? then to change them back a day later? :P(Sorry for the double post first time on the charr picture)--Neil2250 18:55, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

We're not doing anything for April Fools on the wiki, aside from actually covering the in-game April Fools' Day. You can do what you want with your own userpage though. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 22:25, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
As I told Neil in-game, no, you are not allowed. Vandalism is still vandalism and will not be over-looked for 1 day just because of a certain "holiday". -- My Talk Lacky 06:58, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion of wiki pages

With the addition of entering character names to login to the Guild Wars account I would like to request a total deletion of my wiki pages that have my character names. Changing the name isn't an option as it is archived and can be viewed. Sorry if this has been asked but I couldn't find anything about it. So my question is can these pages be deleted and if they can whom do I submit that request to? Empty Skull 16:18, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

nevermind as always i give up too easily. looked around after posting the question and I have my answer. I see that delete|reason|speedy this is the way to do it. I hope this will total delete the page. 16:20, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of the page removes all history along with it. Only Sysops can bring it back. -- My Talk Lacky 06:57, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] help

Is it possible to create symlinks in a wiki? Ex., say I have a file I want to have 5 copies of, each named after the page it's on. Is there a way to point four of those five image files to the fifth, which is the only "real" image? Would it work if I just redirected the image page with no content? The idea is that if I have images A, B and C, I can upload A, link B & C to A and then have appear exactly the same way as . Ideally, linking C to B would also work and double redirect C to A,, but I don't really care about that. –Jette 22:23, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Redirects from one filepage to another cause both to display the image that's on the target filepage, yes. -- pling 22:25, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
It didn't work. –Jette 23:00, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
There shouldn't be a file on the page being redirected. See File:User Brains12 circle sig.png and File:User Pling sig.png - File:User Brains12 circle sig.png and File:User Pling sig.png, respectively. -- pling 23:04, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Is there a way to remove files other than by asking an admin to delete the page? –Jette 23:23, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
No, user's can't delete images, only place a speedy deletion tag and wait a while for an admin to come along. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 10:14, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] question about wiki acct name

does it have to be capitalized? i know it doesnt on my sig, but am i able to make it lowercase on my userpage and/or RC ID? --adrin 23:37, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Make a new one and do a user merge. Image:User_Felix_Omni_Signature.pngelix Omni 23:38, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure all usernames will start with a capital letter here, unless you used a symbol or number. I suppose you might be able to register _adrin_. -- FreedomBound 23:43, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
because of how mediawiki works (I don't know why specifically), if the first character of a page (excluding the namespace) is a letter it auto capitalises it, so i could link to "user:a" and "user:A" and you'd end up at the same page. ~ PheNaxKian Image:User_PheNaxKian_sig.jpg 00:45, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Tested it earlier with User:lowercase test and it registered me as User:Lowercase test. calor (talk) 01:02, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
but of course you could use or something of the sort. –alistic 01:07, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Searching

How do I search to see if my question has already been asked and answered?

- I'm not too lazy to do some digging myself and I'm sure that some questions that I might have have already been asked and answered in the time that Editing Help has existed. Where and how do I try searching for this kind of information?

- Why I'm asking: I am trying to edit our guild's webpage because I need to update the names of the guilds who are members of our alliance. I can't figure out how to do that (I didn't create our guild's webpage, the original author is no longer active).

--Bag of Hammers 17:38, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

You're going to want to edit this page. So far as searching, just use the searchbox on the left, and if you don't find what you're looking for, try changing the places you're searching (as some namespaces aren't searched by default). -- FreedomBound 17:54, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Changing A Color

Question about how to change the color

On our Wiki Guild page we have the sections divided buy a band that goes accross, it's called padding. I figured out how to change the borser color around it on our Guild page, but I can 't figure out how to change the color of the padding from silve or light grey to the color we want it. Couls you tell me how to do this please? thanks--Jenn 07:25, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

For the headers, just change the color code on the div style="background: #DDD; part of the divs (the "DDD" part).
For the infobox and guild templates, you can't.--Fighterdoken 07:44, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
where to I find the codes for the colors?--Jenn 16:39, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Any color selector on google will give you the 6 digit hex codes, or you could try this -- Wyn talk 21:37, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
How can i change just the background color in the top section of the page where we have the guild wars poster and logo's to midnight blue without changing the color of the whole page? I figured out how to change the whole page color but we want that left white and just the top section with the logo's and poster background color changed without chaanging the background color of the entire page. thanks. --Jenn 17:43, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
You have to create a new <div>. -- Wyn talk 17:49, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
Ok thanks Wynn but I can't figure out how to do that for that section I tried but all that showed was the coding. I'm trying to change the background color in that section to #191970.--Jenn 18:12, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Making a Banner

I put a Guild Wars poster surrounded by the other campaign logos on the top of our guild page. I was told it needed to be made into a banner so we can keep it there. I have never made a banner and don't know how to. These make our guild page look great and we want to keep them and not have to change them. [edit] Voting (RfA / RfR / etc) and number of contributions

Hi everyone. As far as I could understand from reading the rules, it seems that voting is open to every contributor (?), as I've even seen some IPs voting on RfAs. However I've observed something like "not enough qualified edits/contributions" somewhere (not exactly the wording but it seems the vote was not valid due to the user not having enough contributions).

Why and where that happens? How do I tell I can already vote on these processes? I can see my number of edits at 'my preferences' page but can't tell which ones would 'count' and which ones don't. I haven't tried voting anywhere yet, as I'm still getting to be more involved with the wiki, knowing how it works, etc, but would be nice to have this information for future use. Thanks in advance. --Sensei | talk 18:33, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

The bureaucratic elections require >100 edits in certain namespaces. You can find that information in the election policy. ETA: Poke's toolset has a script that you can use to get your contributions by namespace, if you use firefox. -- FreedomBound 18:35, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Freedom for the fast and detailed answer. It's clear now. :) --Sensei | talk 18:42, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Quick Link to Section

Is there a way to quickly link to a section on a page (ie. on one of the Help pages) without having to type the full link? I mean, you can link to a subpage using /pagename but can you do something similar like that to link to a particular section since #sectionname doesn't work? -- My Talk Lacky 05:32, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Guild Page

Hi I am trying to make my guild a Wiki page and the text keeps running into the info box at the right. How do I stop this from happening? --Monkeymatt 22:52, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Remove any leading spaces on your lines. If you wish to indent things, place a colon at the start of each line for each level of indent (1 colon = one indent, 2 colons = 2 indents, etc.) -- Wyn talk 23:21, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Port Blocking

Is there any ports which the wiki blocks? A function with the bot I'm developing currently still has a function which does not seem to work because of a possible port blocking. Apparently most websites/browsers run through port 80 or something, I'm not entirely sure. Any help on this? -- My Talk Lacky 12:33, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

HTTP is port 80. If you access the wiki via HTTP (which is really the only way to do it), you need to access it over port 80. poke | talk 23:48, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi everyone. If possible I'd like a few opinions on the name Bold Baby Undies.

Personally I've no idea if it's acceptable or not, but I think it's sort of crossing a line. A F K When Needed 17:33, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Meh....It's borderline, but I don't see too much of a problem with it. I'd bring it up with the user in question first though. -- Wandering Traveler 17:37, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
What's so bad about it? — Mini Me 17:39, 27 January 2010
Wiki doesn't have an acceptable user name policy, and from the looks of his/her user page, it's also an in-game name, and I'd imagine that if it's good enough for in-game, it's good enough for the wiki. -- FreedomBound 17:41, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
To be fair, Freedom, something not being noticed isn't necessarily acceptable.
But fair enough, consensus certainly appears to be leaving it, so thanks for your time guys. A F K When Needed 22:33, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Guild Question?

Several months ago, I created a guild page for my then brand-new guild. A few months later, my computer decided to be a twit and not allow me to play Guild Wars (long story, I'll save your eyes). I've just recently been able to get back to being able to play the game, so I very much expected an inactive Guild notice. Now, my question comes in with the phrasing on the box. 'This Guild article has not received any edits in over 3 months and also does not include a link to an accessible active website or forum.' I am... confused? Is my guild page inactive just because of the lack of edits, or has it been declared inactive because I have no website or forum? I looked over the policy page again, and an exterior site isn't a requirement for guild-wiki-page creation, so... er? Can I have some enlightenment here? Lady Chani 11:05, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

its called inactiev cause of no edits for a time you dont need a forum/ webpage but it can be uesd as substitute for edits i think cause it can show activity 127.0.0.1 11:14, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
If your guild is still active in game, you can simply remove the inactive tag to keep it from being archived as historical. Guild pages get tagged after 3 months of inactivity on the wiki, as long as they do not have an active forum linked. If you do have a forum linked, and there has been activity on the forum within the 3 month timeframe, your guild page will not be tagged as inactive. -- Wyn talk 12:11, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Ah! That makes much more sense. The wording just made it sound complicatedly strange. Thank you for the swift assistance! Lady Chani 13:05, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Screenshot or Anet image tag?

Hi, are user renders tagged as ArenaNet images (under ArenaNet item renders, ArenaNet NPC renders, and ArenaNet armor renders) or as screenshots? The term 'user render' in this situation refers to images that have the background removed to white space. Is it safe to assume given that user renders are edited screenshots, and are not provided by Emily Diehl and not extracted from the dat file that they are tagged as screenshots? Just trying to clear up confusion. Thanks. ~Celestia 08:37, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

User renders are screenshots. Renders are actually compiled of the textures using a rendering program, not simply "removing the background", and are supplied by Emily. -- Wyn talk 08:46, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Namespace?

Hello, When the guild policy page says that it has to be created in the Guild: namespace what does that mean? I saw that template format for inputing your guild information but i don't know where to put it after inputing the info. Where is this "namespace" --Master Levan 16:51, 7 February 2010 (UTC) Master Levan

It means that your guild will be at Guild:Example guild (the Guild: part) –alistic 16:51, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
To be more clear, it means that any guild pages created must be created with the prefix "Guild:" (Such as Guild:Example Guild) Obviously, the name of your guild would replace "example guild." An easy way to do this if you're unsure is to type /help within guildwars, and click the name of your guild, usually located at the bottom of the window. You'll automatically be taken to the proper location where your guild page should be. Ryuu - talk 03:39, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Guild:File:image

Hello Area-net, My question is of the guild pages ability to input an image from this site using the already given information, I input the file i want correctly by putting | image = File:Eagle_Cap_Emblem.png into the guild infobox and nothing happened and no picture showed up what do I do? --Master Levan 20:13, 8 February 2010 (UTC) Master Levan

Btw, we aren't Arena-Net, nor Area-Net, the wiki is maintained by players. Tidas 20:21, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Firstly, ^. Wiki isn't associated directly arena net, and generally anyone you talk to won't be directly affiliated with them. Secondly, images don't just generate via guild wars references by naming them "correctly." That would be far too easy. ^^" In order to get a cape emblem to appear within your guild page, you must either upload it here (with the proper naming, of course), and then link your newly uploaded image to the desired location (In your case, the guild information box.) An alternative to this would to be simply to click on File:Eagle_Cap_Emblem.png, and upload an image from there. Either way, you get the same results. Ryuu - talk 03:32, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
