No support? are you blind? Paragons shouts are all about support, as well as the Ritualist's healing and dmg reduction spirits. Elementalists use earth, air, and water to provide support. And monks are NOT the only healers at all. N/Rt are some of the most effective healers in the game in terms of strength of heals, they just have less efficiency than monks. I've also seen some killer dervish healers with a combination of earth prayers and mysticism. Seriously, each class has its own specialty, and of course there is some overlapping, because its impossible to make something completely original that doesn't reflect one of the core professions in some way.

  • Please read better :) "To start with, I am looking from the 6 core professions baseline" (first sentence). Yes, paragons are much about support, which is why i mentioned them along Ritualists as candidate, they both have the basic functionality ("Either the Paragon or the Ritualist could be changed towards this role quite well" - 'basic principles', 2nd sentence). Also like I implied, monks aren't the only healers, and I consider that exactly a problem, because they should be. Other classes should have some selfheal, but not do the monk's job, cause if they can just as well, why have a monk profession at all? Like said, thats why I dropped the restoration attribute, that is a monk's job, not the ritualist's.
  • Every class SHOULD have it's own specialty. Definately. That what makes them fun and special. Healing and protecting is a monk's business. Ranged attacks are a ranger's business. Making minions is (part of) a necro's business. Damage through spells is an elementalist's business. If accepting that, both Ritualist and Paragon pretty much only have the support business. Matter of picking a preference, I say rit, feel free to suggest para if you prefer it, and explain why its the better choice (I didnt specify it in the topic name for such that reason, to keep it debatable). Core is quite original. To this, support is in my opinion an original addition which right now isnt given to one profession, but divided among several, of which para and rit take the bulk (thanks for mentioning earth wards). For the rest: I'd say dont make new professions if they cant add a new function within a team. If anything still isnt clear, feel free to ask. --Tenshi Samshel 19:44, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
