Have you ever thought that after running through the hot desert for three weeks in heavy armor, getting covered in gore, and not using deodorant ONCE that your character maybe oughta stink a little? Well I suggest that the game be programmed to allow for stench. After going a couple days without swimming or wearing deodorant your character could start to accrue stench. The animation could maybe be a small faint green cloud and flies. While you are under the effects of stench, you are more likely to be detected by some monsters, and apply a very slight degen to foes around you. This would also affect your interaction with non-hostile NPCs, like some might refuse to talk to you, or treat you very rudely. I think this would be very amusing when a party is trying to sneak past a group of particularly nasty ogres, when suddenly, one of them sniffs the air, and roars in their direction. After slaying the ogres, then somebody could be all like, ok, who forgot to shower? The need to go swimming or wear deodorant would really lend an aspect of reality to your character and enhance game immersion. This may also have a fun affect on player interactions, as a person with poor hygiene may be wanted or rejected by certain parties. Think of all the great character names too...
