Feedback:User/MrMacaroli/Heavy Helmets (And Why They Should Shadow the Face)

The Problem[edit]

Mostly full helmets don't shadow the face, removing the ability for players to emulate concept art otherwise well fulfilled visually by Guild Wars 2.

The Fix[edit]

Option 1: The better for individual customization, is the option to toggle shadows on the helmet to conceal the parts of the face not covered by the helm, much like some of the mesmer starting masks and a handful of other blackening armor pieces in looks.

Option 2: Less free for customization is defaulting these helmets to face-darkening, as can be believed to be their intended vision for the equipment based on concept and cinematic artwork.

The Why[edit]

First and foremost, as a suggestion about the cosmetics in regards to armor and equipment, the entirety of the suggestion itself is a matter of subjective opinion, to be considered and criticized by any per personal taste and belief in what these helmets should look like. What is brought up here is for options reflective of what seems to be ArenaNet's intended view (as suggested by artwork) of heavy, plate armor.

To the point, the nature of the vast majority of the art featuring plate-wearing classes has featured helms (which we have seen in-game) on entities that entirely darken and shadow the face, providing a full helm and an impressive image. For examples, take a look here and here

Both of which are taken from the Guild Wars 2 official site as wallpapers, advertisement for their respective classes. With our present knowledge, we know that the vast majority of the in-game counterparts for these helmets allow the face to be fully visible where not directly covered, even if the helmet itself would naturally darken the contents of the individual's features.

This stands as a great disappointment for those formerly excited by even such a small thing as to be a faceless soldier. It is entirely understandable that the face should be visible, but the fact is brought up that other helmets are better at showing the face and the option is there for helmets to be removed entirely as a toggle-able asset, where those who want to hide their faces are left with precious few options. The options above list how to fix it without inhibiting player choice and the ability to look how you want, and it should be done for both the sake of subjectively good-looking helms and the ability to customize in such a manner.
