Add name reservations to the gem store[edit]

Allow people to pay to increase the duration and the number of character names they can reserve in Guild Wars 2.

  • Increase the duration of any existing reservations for one month: 800 gems.
  • Add a single-word name to the list: 800 gems. (This gives people a jump start on names that couldn't be reserved at all from GW1.)
  • Bonus: reserve guild name: 800 gems.

Background[edit]

I've seen a lot of complaining by people that the name reservations expire too quickly or that they cannot reserve the one-word version of their name (that they have been known by for so long, e.g. I can't reserve "Ernie" or "Tef"). Personally, I'm not bothered by it, but if people really want to be able to do this, why shouldn't ANet cater to their whims...at a cost. This allows folks to put their money where their mouth is.

I chose 800 gems as the price because that's what it costs to add a new toon slot to your account, which seems like a reasonable point of comparison.
