Dumbed down[edit]

You're right when you say that they've been overbuffed, but beyond that they've been dumbed down a lot. Mesmers used to be considered a difficult class to play; now, they just need to copypaste a mindless hex spam or e-denial build from the wiki and they can do about as well as skilled and experienced players. They don't need to interrupt because they can hex spam instead, and they don't need to know when to use damage and when to use denial because they're the same thing now. When every single skill on your bar has strong (armor ignoring) damage and strong control or denial, there are some obvious balance issues afoot.--173.55.46.46 07:43, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

I agree that they have been dumbed down a bit. Mesmers are now alot easier to play which isn't a problem itself, it's the bar compression of skills. Like you said you now have skills that deal both damage and cause energy denial. While it isn't a real problem for PvE it is problematic for PvP. What is a big problem in PvE is the mesmers ability to deal armor ignoring (AoE) damage with non-elite skills. That's why I reduced the mesmer's ability to deal aoe damage a bit and changed Mind Wrack for PvP. So instead of making them deal AoE damage i focused on additional damage to a single target instead. Other than that i just want to make some of the mesmer skills more playable, mainly some of the elites. Damysticreaper 12:02, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
I used to like the class but it is boring now. I don't like how it's just interrupt to activate Wastrels. The fact that it can be super spammed hurts Mesmers who try to shut down critical actions who usually aren't spamming. Previously Unsigned 10:59, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
I like what you did here, but Psychic Distraction got a bit too powerful when you compare it to Power Block. It has 10 less energy cost, and it works like a D-shot. I know it's elite, and I know that Pblock is still very powerful, but with 5 less energy and 15 seconds recharge, and ~20 seconds of disabling any skill it interrupts, It looks to be way more scary considering all the things mesmers can do with their nonelites. IMO reduce the disable time a bit. to 5...13...15 for example. --Boro User Borotvaltgandalf Sig.jpg 12:29, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Hmm how does an elite Complicate sound. Disabling a skill for the target and other foes who also posses that skill. Would be quite effective in PvE against skills that comes in multiple copies. Da Mystic Reaper 12:47, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Sounds fun. Also fun when the enemies get to use it on Searing Flames teams :D . Bring it.--Boro User Borotvaltgandalf Sig.jpg 13:12, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
