this idea has pretty much already been suggested here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Feedback:User/Knighthonor/Mutiple_Voices_to_choose_from_at_Character_Customization there is also a reasonably in-depth look at the pros and cons/feasibility of implimentation on the discussion page. As for saying a character name, to my knowledge there hasn't been a computer program made yet that could pronounce names correctly that weren't pre-programmed, and obviously it's impossible to create an exhaustive list of names, and record each character/voice actor saying them, even if you could it wouldn't flow within a sentence. and as for the final part of your suggestion, i believe it has already been implimented, i think i read somewhere each character has over 400 pieces of dialogue/taunts they can use in battle and if i recall correctly enemy mobs/npcs will too. Many of the taunts are showcased in the official class skill videos, however in-game they will be less frequent Ealias 09:10, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Some of you guys seem kinda obsessed with making your character look and sounds just like you. Doesn't seem healthy to me.--Will Greyhawk 20:07, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
I like the first suggestion of making character voice customizable. Not because I want it to sound like me (quite the contrary), but just to add even more uniqueness/individual personality to a character.
From what I read and saw during the week devoted to the game's sound design and what I know about digitized sound, there really wouldn't be a need to re-record all of the dialogue for each new voice. You make one master recording and then - using the tools that already exist for the sound designers - you tweak the master recording to create different voices.
In one of the videos they even discuss how they add little nuances to recorded actors' voices to change them to better fit the NPC character, the environment, or the situation. So even as things stand right now, the dialogue you will be hearing in-game will not be an unedited version of an original voice recording; they've already been digitized and manipulated.
If they're already doing that with the current voice recordings being used in the game, it wouldn't be that difficult to take those recordings being used for the players' characters and add the ability to customize the voice at character creation time (within certain limits; no Minnie Mouse voices, please). A few sliders to change the pitch, loudness, timbre, etc. should be sufficient.
As to the second suggestion of making characters, NPCs, and enemies speak the character's name, I'm in agreement with Ealias above; it usually doesn't flow well within a sentence. It usually winds up being something akin to, "Prepare to meet thy doom...DRA-gon...twen-TIE...WO...on...in my fiery rain of death!" Also, that just screams abuse with little annoying kiddies thinking how cool it will be to name their character "F**K Stick" so they can hear every character, NPC, and enemy in the game speak it out loud every time they meet. My own experiance with audio production does show that adjust the voices is possible, but damn, its can be hard to nail. The seggestion is a bit hard to read, does it imply thst software should be included in GW2 to allow for this? I can't see that happening.--Will Greyhawk 21:45, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
