I personally think the effects are fine the way they are (the boar issue could be solved with a model scaling tweak). Having never played the game, you nor I am in a place to determine what we can or can't identify in a combat situation. That being said, the option of having an 'effect intensity' slider in the options menu would be a good idea as everyone has their own tastes and having the option to turn the opacity of some of the effects would be nice for people who have trouble paying attention to things when everything is on fire. Even going one step further, seperate sliders for allies, yourself, targeted enemies and other enemies would be a big help as well.

Its been a long time since I used wiki so I appologize if I'm responding to this incorrectly. I just wanted to note: I agree there needs options to tone down or turn off the visual effects (flashy overlapping of skill effects, the circles showing the area effects, and UI effects - green and red surround) Here is why: I was watching one of many beta videos lastnight and this particular video was 37 mins approx. the effects of only what looked like five people in a dungeon was so overwhelming and disorienting. At one point I couldn't even see the boss ghost person they were attacking for a good minute or two. On top of that causing me to look to various parts of the screen other than where I should be if I was actually playing, and to me this is huge. At one point along with the choas of effects the UI became green surrounding and I instantly felt odd then nausea. I looked away fast and thought ok that was weird. My husband told me the green was gone so I continued to watch and moments later the green appeared again, and again I felt the same sick feeling. After that, we stopped the video and turned it off. I want to point out I have never had motion sickness. I never get weird reactions from games like this. I have had points in Guild Wars one where after playing for several hours I got headaches, and I understand thats the red or whatever and that doesn't happen often to me either. I hope something is in the works already and if not please do something about this. I would hate it if I couldn't play the game that I been waiting on for years because too many people like flashy things and wave their hands at this saying its nothing. Arenanet probably included sound effects to help clarify the actions/skills. But one issue I can think of is that an Elementist has a trait that allows a benenfit from being near ally fire...how do you tell it's ally fire? I also think the effects when more than 5 players are involved become muddled and no amount of enlarging or brightening is going to clarify it. I definetly would like to see a slider or some sort of FX control in the options menu. A "Champion mode" could make for challenging gameplay and as well as easier on the eyes. On another note I think single triggered traps should have a look of a rusty toothed (bear) trap instead of simply a bright red circle. Helyanwe 20:23, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
