Two years ago, ArenaNet® redefined online RPGs with the release of Guild Wars® Prophecies™. Now the Guild Wars story returns to Tyria, the land where it all started, in the upcoming expansion, Guild Wars: Eye of the North™.

New Game Feature: Hard Mode[edit]
For veteran adventurers seeking greater challenges and rewards, Hard Mode is sure to provide all of the glory you seek, and more! But be warned: Hard Mode is not for the faint of heart! The levels of all of your foes, as well as their AI, have been enhanced. The monsters are not only harder to kill, they fight smarter than ever. Your success in Hard Mode will be determined, more than anything else, by your skill at playing the game.
Hard Mode is sure to challenge you, but the rewards make it well worth the effort. Learn more about the rewards that await you in Hard Mode.
Design-A-Weapon Contest[edit]
Guild Wars fans sent entries from far and wide for our most recent Guild Wars Design-A-Weapon Contest. Entries came from more than thirty countries on four continents, and spanned a dozen item types—from shields to swords to focus items.
After several rounds of judging, approximately 100 entries made it to the final round, where the entire Guild Wars Development Team spent a few hours to view, assess, discuss, and vote upon their selections. These fan design concepts will become the inspiration for weapons and other items that will be added to Guild Wars in the months to come.

Guild Wars: Eye of the North™ is the first true expansion for Guild Wars and calls players back to the continent of Tyria, the home of the original Prophecies campaign. Players must take their existing characters and stand side-by-side with both friends and enemies from the past, recruit new allies and heroes, and delve deep into perilous dungeons to face an ancient evil.
