Has anyone succeeded with this one? Any pointers?--71.185.41.90 02:45, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

I didn't tell you :p , but you can cheat this quest easily due to the triggers.
  1. Ignore the assassin NPC, do not trigger the dialogue, do not approach him.
  2. Head north towards the cave. The trigger spot for the foes spawning is between the left slope and where the second moss guardian would normally spawn (but doesn't) - see the map. When you cross the red line all the yeti will spawn. (But because you haven't talked to AssassinMeijun, Vengeful Eye, the vulnerable allies won't be vulnerable yet)
  3. Kill all the yeti, there are two mobs near the south cave entrance, and about 6 at the east entrance.
  4. After clearing out the majority of yeti, head back to Meijun Vengeful Eye to trigger the dialogue. This dialogue will trigger 3 yeti mobs to spawn (you may have to cross the trigger line again going north to south for the yeti to appear, I don't remember precisely). Go back to the cave and kill the yeti in the order they approach - use spirits on the entrance of the cave that you don't intend to fight first.

All of the yeti at the cave before the dialogue with the assassin combined are zero. Killing all of them is trivial because there aren't any. This may be one of the updated quests since you last did it, or you had the Golden Lantern quest active perhaps? Kyubiko 13:07, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
I just tried this and can confirm that Chieftain Alex's method does NOT work. I'm not discovering any exploits or shortcuts with this one.--71.185.41.90 11:07, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
Just need a bit luck, quest is extremely easy, even in HM, you just have to cross fingers that Mai (stupid NPC A), doesn't go berserk ("Maaaaaiiiiiroyyyyyy")or isn't too much targeted... 109.129.60.244 13:14, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
Yeah clearly it doesn't work if I've done it on 3 characters in nm and hm -_- File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 13:58, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
Mai the heroic assassin is indeed the one who always gets herself killed when I try this. Taking care of the yetis and keeping alive any NPC who stays in range of spirits is fine. But also saving over-aggroing NPC's from themselves is more than heroes can handle. (The quest would be easier if she didn't actually try to help!) This is another stupid WoC HM quest that depends too much on luck because you can't control NPC behavior. And if anyone else has had success with Chieftain Alex's method, I'd love to hear about it, because at this point multiple people have confirmed that it doesn't work for them.--71.185.41.90 18:56, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
To Clarify, you must trigger the assassin's dialogue. But avoid crossing the trigger line in Chieftain's instructions. After killing all the spawn's return and cross the line. If you have bee successful you will see Yuun's dialogue requesting help. There will only be one group of 3 Yeti's to kill, after triggering Yuun's request for help. Yugs 5:58, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

I've been making some testing with this. And this is what I've found.

  • The initial yetis won't spawn unless you talk with the assassin.
  • The last waves of yetis won't spawn until Yuun talks.
  • It looks like there's an invisible 'border' that will trigger Yuun's dialogue if you cross it, like a laser tripwire that triggers when crossed.
  • Heroes 'will trigger Yuun's dialogue just like players when they cross this border. I stumbled upon this several times while trying to replicate this trick. I was really far from the triggering point, yet it got triggered.
  • Then I remembered something I did during the Canthan new year to save time:
    • While I let my heroes kill the Nian, I went to grab the Nong berries, so they would fight the Nian knights.
    • But I found that directly flagging them to were there Nian nights were didn't work. First, you must get close enough for the Nian to appear in your radar so they 'load'. Then you can flag the heroes there and walk to the Nong bush, and the heroes will trigger the dialogue.
  • I was outside the trigger, but close enough for Yun to load, and so the heroes triggered his dialogue anyways.

So, if you flag them inside the area, and then move them around before getting close enough to trigger, and make sure you don't get close enough for the NPCs to 'load', their event won't trigger, and they will stay invulnerable, and you'll be able to flag the heroes to move them around, killing the yeti while safely keeping alive Mai. And I specifically say Mai, because the other two NPCs pose no problem compared to "Your Maniacal Suicidal Masochist Queen-Empress-Goddess of Deadly Death and Doom" as I will call her from now on. Once the Yeti spawned by getting near Meijun area dead, you can flag the heroes by the east door, approach the area from the south door, and defend the NPCs just against the small waves of Yetis, greatly decreasing the difficulty of the encounter, since you are no longer outnumbered. So the trick definitely works, but not exactly as explained up there. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 22:02, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

I think the trick was on the right path, but a step is missing. This worked for me: Ignore the assassin and run to the cave, killing a path so you can run back (running skills on your player useful). Flag heroes inside the cave and then run back and trigger the assassin and then run back to the cave. When you get near the cave, the Yeti will spawn but will not move and NPCs will stay invulnerable because the heroes are in the cave. Mop up every group (you can move around, just don't go too far out of the cave with your heroes - I pulled the mobs) - I mostly pulled them back to a party of casters at the cave mouth. When all Yeti are dead, unflag heroes, run out of the cave (say an aggro bubble south) and then run back. This triggers the last group to spawn - take an easy jog to them (no running skills required - they shouldn't aggro) and kill the last group of 3 before they even move. Wait for the conversation and you win. --Falseprophet 02:24, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Strat for Hero Teams[edit]

After trying various variations of the above strat, I was able to do this with Hero flagging, as long as the heroes didn't cross the trigger line they wouldn't trigger the NPCs to be attacked. So flagging them to where the Yeti's were, I was able to have my heroes take out each group of Yeti before triggering the NPCs to be attacked.

Skip the initial dialogm Clear any mobs on your way to the Yeti cave, and Flag your team inside the Yeti cave. Then the player will go back and start the dialogue, don't get anywhere near the "trigger zone", (its more like a circle all around the cave, and Yeti spawns). If your heroes can handle it they will kill groups of Yetis at these three locations:

  1. Where the NPCs spawn
  2. East of the NPCs (where the main force comes from),
  3. Near the front of the cave, where you initially see the Yeti's.

After your Heroes clear these locations, Flag them to the NPCs, and then run in. You will only have to kill the remaining Yetis from the east, and you can move towards them to prevent the NPCs from adding in. I hope this helps, I spent 1.5 hours wiping on this from the retarded NPC AI before being able to do it with this strat.

This Just Worked For Me[edit]

Okay, this works: 1. Avoid talking to the NPC in the green starbust; instead, head across the little bridge. 2. Go up fairly close to the west entrance to the cave and flag your heros there. If you get too close you may or may not trigger the NPC's inside the cave to call for help - anyway, you only have to flag your heros there. 3. Travel back down to the green starburst NPC...you will take the far western side to get to him, but you will have Yeti between him and you, but that's okay. Run past the Yeti into his aggro bubble so he begins his dialogue. As soon as he starts speaking, turn and fight the Yeti and die quickly. 4. Click on one of your heros so you can see from their vantage point; flag them inside the cave. If you are don't delay, there probably won't be any Yeti inside the cave that spawn yet. Wait until all the dialogue stops from the NPC you aggro'd to speak. Wait another extra minute to make sure everything is set. 5. Now, slowly begin flagging your heros to the southern exit of the cave. Then slowly around the south of the cave. You will spawn each Yeti group in turn. Fight one group at a time; retreat as you need to in case your heros start taking more than a little damage. You will fight around to the western entrance. You just need to hug the outter most part of the cave. 6. Once you get to the western entrance, keep flagging them little-by-little to the north of the exit and around the open area there. You will spawn a few more Yeti groups. After all of them have been defeated, begin flagging them inside the cave through the western entrance. Don't lose track of where the entrance is or you might be too late, but actually, you have a minute or two. 7. Near the western entrance, just inside, a Yeti group or groups will spawn. Fight them and make sure to pass them when they are just a couple and flag your heros at the NPC's to protect them. 8. Once you are through, wait a minute or two and a final dialogue begins by the NPC's you just saved. After all dialogue if finished, your quest will update. NOTES: The Yeti seem really subdued and easy to defeat with just your heros. Sometimes you have to get close to a spawned Yeti group before it really fights back. I took a Paragon with "Incoming!" elite and "Fall Back!" so I could flag my heros back in a retreat sometimes to heal them better. It is not needed, but seems to make it easy. Doing it the above way is really a no-brainer and all it takes is a little time. Reconning out where the entrances are before you actually try it will probably save some time and aggravation.Baron Pierre Lestat 13:19, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Easy without triggering[edit]

There is an easier way than any mentioned so far. 1- Avoid dialogue with Jade Brotherhood 2- Go to farthest entrance to cave (please note there will be absolutely nothing there 3- Leave heroes/henchman/party at spot 4- One person trigger dialogue with Jade Brotherhood 5- Run back and fight the yeti that now spawn, including ones that spawn at other side of cave, along the mountain wall 6- Kill any groups that get near allies (yeti will not attack allies since help trigger did not occur) 7- Kill all but the last 2 groups, because those will trigger dialogue 8- Run to allies, only the groups you didnt kill plus 1-2 more will spawn, 8.5- Dont forget to trigger dialogues by either running past the trigger spot or by pulling remaining yeti 9- Much easier than fighting 12 groups of yeti at once 10- Takes around 10-12 minutes depending on group 11- Collect reward.

Hopefully a little more clear than the first set of advice, it does work
