Talk:Guide to farming Ebon Vanguard reputation points

From Guild Wars Wiki

Erm...You can't give a NM Hero's Handbook to the NPC anymore after you reach rank 8 (Valued Agent). The last line is therefore faulty.

Delete?[edit]

This does not seem like a guide, so much as how you gain points. Should this be marked for deletion until someone can write an actual guide? Mohnzh 15:36, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

As far as Sacnoth strategy goes[edit]

I'm not really going to be able to prove this, but grabbing the shrines as you pass them can be useful to raise your rank bonus earlier on. More foes killed at rank 2,3,4 earlier on MIGHT > 100 pts from each shrine at the end. It just depends on the math, which is hard since it's a probability, and I got sick and tired of farming Sacnoth a few days after the GW:EN release. So... anyone care to confirm for me? --onoes! When I do my runs tonight, I'll confirm this for you. Jack 23:01, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
I agree with marafaxas, it's not always gaurenteed to give raw points after everything is killed. Once, after following this guide, i picked up all the shrines last and got several rampage, boss bounties, and commendations. I could be wrong, but I think it would net a much larger point gain if you went to shrines mid-run. And btw, I am having trouble vanquishing this area, so if somebody doesn't mind helping me, add me in-game as Gabrial The Paragon, thx. 68.187.16.3 21:50, 22 January 2008 (UTC) Gabe
I would try to get rank two as fast as possible, since it gives the biggest increase in NM. With 50 dead enemies you get 40 points. Getting an early rank two makes that up fast.
EatMoreBread 02:06, 2 August 2008 (UTC): Since this is a pretty generic strategy that one would use for any reputation point farming, it should not be so intimately detailed here. It's nothing special, it's just saying to clear the entire zone. The question asked here of which strategy for farming reputation points is better should be detailed in the Reputation Points page; I think this section should be revised with a strategy that pertains more closely to this particular zone.

Well...[edit]

I agree with what was being said above, that this isn't much of a guide. If I didn't already have my own way of farming Vanguard points, this article would be my first idea of where to look, but it doesn't help. As it is, I usually start at Longeye's Ledge and run diagonally toward the portal to Sacnoth. I enter Sacnoth and get the first bounty, then I proceed to clear all the normal Charr surrounding the shrine with the three bosses. I leave the bosses alone. With most of the normal Charr dead, I typically go south of the Charr base and kill some of the other opponents until I get a Boss Bounty (~150 kills usually). With the boss bounty, I go back and kill all three bosses for masive points. With enough kills, you will get 300-450 points for each boss, then the Boss Bounty will give so much as 300 more. Three bosses, lots of normal enemies, rewards for getting multiples of 25 kills, and if you take some lockpicks you will get some nice rewards for such a run. I didn't know how to add this to the article, or if it should even be added, at all. Maybe somebody can look into that? - Ara Ara 11:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Somebody should look into deleting it, or at least cleaning it up. It basically suggests how to earn points the way everybody gets points anyway, before looking here to see if there's a faster way. Which, for Ebon Vanguard points, there's really not, but there doesn't need to be a page that can be summed up into:
  • Vanquish.
  • Do handbooks.

Just my opinion. --Gah_ 00:31, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, I don't want to change this article before I get an agreement with or permission from somebody, but Sacnoth Valley has three Charr bosses standing very near to each other, yet not bound to any groups. It would be fastest to go to Sacnoth, kill until you get a boss bounty, and then pull and annihilate these three Charr bosses individually, which should take about two minutes. That has been my method, but I don't know what to do concerning putting it in this article, or even if I should. I don't want to see this page deleted, as all other titles have equivalents of this, only much more in-depth. I'd like to make this page a bit more practical. What if I were to try my run in Normal and Hard Mode, and then change this article to suggest whatever skills might help in each respective mode? If I can make this article worth reading, then maybe somebody will earn a faster rank 10 Vanguard rank. Not that it matters, with Guild Wars 2 coming one of these days. Meh, any thoughts? ~ A R A ~ 06:03, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Way faster to just repeat Snowball Dominance quest over and over again. 500 points per 2 minutes.86.87.127.239 16:41, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

Rank 5 to Rank 8[edit]

Can anyone please explane me what they try to say? I don't understand it. Or is it just me? -- User The Falling One Sig.png † F1 Talk 15:13, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
