NOT a common drop.[edit]

There is no real way that this item can be considered to be a 'common' drop. Anecdotal evidence is that this item has a less than 10% chance to drop (I've seen ectos drop more often than this item). After killing all the giants in Holdings 5 times to get one Pillaged Good, I ended up with 20+ Hunting Minotaur Horns, and loads more Bull Giant Jawbones than Pillaged Goods. 195.183.80.137 18:03, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

It's a bit misleading, but the rarity has nothing to do with the frequency of the drop, rather the color of the item's text. See rarity for more details. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 18:09, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
It is rather ironic considering how uncommon the drop really is. Half the time the trainers don't drop anything and then along with the random crap, the boots, and the jawbones, the chance of getting one of these is quite minuscule. I'm inclined to agree that ectoplasm just might drop more often, though perhaps that's on account of the fact that you're killing minotaurs which are irrelevant to the acquisition and thus a monumental waste of time. Keneth 19:32, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I agree completely. I went through the west side of Holdings five times, didn't get a single one, so I gave up and moved on to something a bit more productive. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 21:40, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
There are people in the outpost claiming to have done ~200 runs and only gotten 2-3. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 21:42, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
While I believe that, I also have to shake my head. Why would you do that to yourself? -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 21:43, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
No idea. I did about 4 runs, got 1 and quit. Just sold it for 6k, which seems like a ridiculous price to pay for a few tonics. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 21:50, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
I did 5 runs too... got nothing... gave up. And Considering how these spawns are all static (IE: the number and type of mobs never changes...) it should be super-easy to calculate just how rare this drop is just by counting how many trainers you encounter in one run. I counted 15 per run. ...So multiply that by my 5 fail runs and add to someone's 1 single drop out of 5 other runs... and you got a 1 in 150 chance. That was just Super Awesome of Anet to make these the GotT item without testing them first... --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 07:55, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
I think 2-3 in 200 is a bit exaggerated, I got 3 out of 12 but it's still a huge waste of time. You could make a ton of money with just plain farming in the time it takes you to get those 5 items, certainly much more than you need to buy them from someone else if you absolutely have to. Keneth 22:25, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
It's hardly exaggerated; it took me 27 and a half runs (I kept a tally) of ~11 giants per run, solo farming, to get the 5 goods. That is a drop rate of about 1.6%. And yes, I was kinda bored and looking for something to do.SirNukes 01:18, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Well ya know there's just some weeks I say screw you ANET and don't do it...if I can't farm/buy it easy/cheap then I just skip the week (98.179.8.157 04:03, 4 March 2010 (UTC))
Doing it with discord heros, 20ish golds, 40ish purples, 2 rubies 1sapphire from salvages, 2 stacks of plant fiber, 2 stacks of planks, 1 pillaged goods you tell me how good the drop is --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.170.218.38 (talk).
27 runs for 5 is a lot less than 200 runs for 2-3, so how is that not exaggerated? :D Maybe they meant 200 kills and KJ misunderstood, that would make some sense then. Also, complaints from people who farm items this rare with heroes are silly. XD Keneth 13:08, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Not necessarily silly Keneth, as common or "white" items are affected by loot scaling. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Manassas (talk).
True but the loot is then quartered (assuming 3 heroes) which reduces the drop rate to less than you had to begin with. More people is good, more h/h is bad. :) Keneth 13:58, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Not true. Heroes and henchmen counts as players lootwise. You will get exactly same drops playing with 3 h/h as you would with 3 human players. Only difference is that you don't see the h/h's loot on screen. And since common items are affected by loot scaling, you will NOT get 4 times as many Pillaged Goods solo farming as you would if you farmed with 3 h/h's --Manassas User Manassas Mannysig.png 15:15, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Ok, we have a failure to communicate (we both said the same thing though). Here's the catch, loot per person scales up with fewer party members but total loot scales up with more party members (obviously, that was the point of loot scaling). Thus you still get the most drops for yourself while solofarming but in total fewer items drop altogether. Now if you have 3 heroes (or henches) in your party, the total amount of drops will be significantly larger than if you're alone but 3/4 of those drops go to the NPCs (won't appear on the ground) and since there's more party members, the loot per person is lower, meaning you get slightly less drops for yourself with h/h, plus you also split the gold drops in four. In short, taking h/h with you will not increase your chances of getting the item, in fact, it will make it less likely. Keneth 19:25, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Not common at all. tried for 2 days doing 20 -30 runs each with nothing. lots of salvage items, 100 bone, 100 fibers with a few Runes and alot of golds.. not worth buying 1 for 10k not worth the waste of time to farm em. i say skip the week and wait till next

Well, I did farm 5 for myself, but it's the most annoying Nick farm I've ever done, lol. I guess there have to be hard weeks to make up for the easy ones. But this one felt rather ridiculous. At least I got some goldies, plus a sapphire from some geodes. I've saved the crapload of Minotaur Horns and Giant Jawbones too, just in case that pesky old gift peddler asks for them sometime in the future. :P 85.19.140.9 14:22, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
★★★I don't think anyone mentioned that "common" refers to the item being white colored text (aka "common") NOT to the drop frequency... not every rare drop is gold★★★ 71.181.52.67 19:02, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
I might add as well that the drop is extremely hard to get. Got 1 out of 122 giants killed, solo, in both Holdings of Chokhin and Vehjin Mines. Not advised to be farmed for anything, even traveler isn't worth it. 20:06, 2 August 2012 (UTC) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ceylin Asiye (talk) at 20:06, 2012 August 2 (UTC).
I'm not sure the drop rate is really affected by party size, as I've done over 30 runs runs divided between solo, half and full party, and gotten none on solo runs. The two I've gotten is like watching a train-wreck in slow motion... it's morbid fascination to see how many giants it takes to get five. I agree with the above that it really isn't worth the time I've put into it, even for Nick. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 174.59.40.228 (talk) at 11:31, 2012 August 5 (UTC).

Whoever put things like this or Mandragor Roots from EotN as Nick items seriously needs to get punched in the throat.23.242.248.211 13:27, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
