Talk:Skill point
From Guild Wars Wiki
I'm very upset with the skill points at this time. Before you (the developers) introduced the title tracks, I was already capturing elites just because I love skills and creating builds. Then the title came and I was excited! I devoted all my time to capturing elites and gathered 65 total before disaster struck. I ran out of skill points. So I worked diligently on farming monsters to get more experience (ignoring quests altogether), and then clearing areas to keep the points going.
And then you introduced experience from capturing skill points. Imagine my disbelief. I'm not saying I'm the oldest player around, but I definitely put in a lot of work to capture those elites and now that I'm nearing the end of the Prophecies series...I think it sucks that I didn't get some sort of credit for the elites I captured before the elite skill capture experience came into play.
I'm not saying you should change anything...Just registering a complaint. (In the end, I guess no one can say I didn't work for my first skill hunter title.) Jack 19:41, 6 May 2007 (EDT)
- I realize that I'm being just as bad here by replying to a comment that's over 6 months old, but the skill capture change and titles were both added as part of the release of Factions, over one year before you posted that comment. You kept a chip on your shoulder for that long over captured skills? --Goteki-45 23:36, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Usage
They should do something about the usage of skillpoints, I know they added the cons that cost skill points to create but that didnt really affect it. One of my chars have over 700 skillpoints, for what? I know I'm not gonna buy 700+ cons, I already got Legendary Skillhunter... Let's say you could turn them in för a reward, let's say gold. 100g per skillpoint maybe? That might be stretching it but something would be nice. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nox Coma (talk • contribs) at 12:05, 17 October 2008 (UTC).
- They just feel useless as you just gather more and more. Even if I doid buy cons for elite areas I would just get the skillpoints back cause elite areas tend to yield alot of xp.
- Well... They dont do any harm by just sitting there but I just feel it a waste as they just keep adding up. -- Nox Coma 12:05, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- You can buy a lot of perfect salvage kits or something like that. So when Eotn was introduced the skill points aren't that useless after gaining all skills. But you're right, some sort of skill point bounty might be good. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.235.176.115 (talk • contribs) at 18:16, 9 February 2009 (UTC).
- yeah, an item that requires 250 skill points or something to craft would be quite awesome :)
would likely be some kind of anti-goldsink, though :/ unless the amount of the skill points required would be that huge that only very few characters had it, then it could even serve as gold sink since players would have to specify in collecting experience points...on the other hand, farming is the best method to get much experience in a short period of time, therefore this won't work... —Zerpha
