You will make more money IDing an Item before you sell it to the merchant then you will if no sell it to the merchant without IDing it first. You will make more money using a Expert ID kit, then a superior one; however, it will cost you three additional inventory spots to carry the expert ID kits.

I suggest you bring a superior ID kit, ID everything you can and then sell what you dont want to keep to the merchant, this way you can expect to bring home more money.
