How well you do in Guild Wars PvP is mostly decided by the skills you choose and how well you play them. Max upgrades aren't nearly as important as having good skills, but if you've got the skills you want, here's a solid list of what to use with each weapon type.

As with the skills lists, italicized upgrades are more important than plain text upgrades.

Weapon swapping[edit]

  • You get 4 slots for different weapon sets. In general, that means 3 customizable melee weapons and a spear/shield set for running around.
  • Use mods appropriate to the weapon's task. If you are running a build with Conjure, make sure you have an Enchanting weapon to cast Conjure with, but don't stay in that set very long; swap out to the normal Elemental/Fortitude weapon to attack.
  • Swapping between sets takes time. It's better to swap a few seconds before the spike than to swap the second of the spike and miss it.
  • More HP is always better. If you're going to spend most of the time attacking with a Zealous weapon, put a fortitude mod on it.
  • Remember to pull out your spear/shield set if you're milling around (running back to base, running to get a flag, spearing a target before engaging to build adrenaline, etc).
