What is this how did I get here I'm not good with blogs[edit]

September 25th, 2008[edit]

Downloaded the WoW 10-day trial out of morbid curiosity. I have a few friends and ex-guildies who play it, and I didn't feel I could pass accurate judgement over a game I've never played. I've been playing it for about two hours now and on the whole, I'm less than impressed. I created a human Rogue thing on some random server and all I've done so far is killing ten of these things, then eight of some other thing, then twelve things slightly related to the first thing. Wow. I can hardly contain my excitement. I ran around a bit and admired the graphics -- certainly doesn't come close to GW's high standard, but passable and fairly pretty here and there -- and tried to figure out how gear and such worked, as I kept getting quest rewards the game informed I couldn't actually use yet.

Got bored when I received yet another "go kill x of y" quest, and logged off. Its appeal is lost on me.

Forgot this thing existed. Oops. Currently in the process of pulling what very well might be my last PvE character ever through EotN. It is a mesmer, one that will actually stick around since I bought her FoW. I have a bad track record with mesmers (and eles also); I've made close to half a dozen, I think. Two were Prophecies mesmers, three were Canthan, and the one I have now is also Canthan. I still have three mesmers (also three eles), one of which is muling, one of which is not doing anything, but won't get deleted cause she has Vabbian and I have fond memories of her stomping all over scrubs in Aspenwood, and one who actually gets play.

So yeah. Last PvE character ever (until I remake someone, or make a new char just for fun). I've done all the campaigns on all my other characters (I have characters of all classes) and since I don't do grinding or titles, at some point, I'm just going to be PvE'd out. Strange that that point is coming really close now. I won't actively quit GW, though, I like AB too much for that, and I need to annoy my guild into starting GvG back up again. Our first attempts were absolutely miserable, which wasn't strange considering none of us had GvG experience and only some of us had a little HA experience, but fun was had, and I still want to be in the next Rawr Cup :P.

I'm really hoping we'll get some more GW2 info soon. Some concept artwork, perhaps. At this stage of development, it HAS to exist, so cough it up, Anet! :P I'm a big fan of Arena Net's artists, Daniel Dociu especially, and I'm really looking forward to seeing their amazing work. I've had many pieces of concept artwork as a desktop background and I'd really love to have something from GW2 gracing my desktop soon. It's a shame the beta got pushed back, but I'd rather have a game that works at a later date than an early buggy game, so it's all for the best, I suppose.

Wow, that was rambly and disjointed. Oh well :D

April 3rd 2008[edit]

Might as well give this a shot. Uh. Let's see. April Fool's in GW is over. Was quite fun, although it didn't top last year's crazy genderswitch.

Bought a Tormented Staff. Cost me 100k and 13 ecto, making it the single most expensive weapon I've ever bought. Totally worth it, though :D. Am at the strange point in GW where there really isn't anything I really want o_O.

Am wondering if GW2 will allow me me to bind both my two accounts to a single GW2 account, as I'm not buying two GW2 accounts. Having two accounts is just a giant PITA, especially considering there's no easy way to transfer stuff. I'm always having to ask guildies/alliance folk to help me get stuff to the other account, which is a pain.

Might play some Team Fortress 2 tonight. Fun game is fun ^_^

April 9th, 2008[edit]

Watching the Rawr Cup over the weekend made me want to GvG. I've never GvG'd a day in my life; all my PvP experience has come from a couple of HA trips (I have a Bambi), and AB and RA, and the latter two hardly counts as PvP. Anyway, I suggested it to my equally nubby guildies and... we're on :D.

We're planning on running a basic balanced build from the current meta. Two warriors, a ranger, a mesmer, a stand ele, two monks and a rit flagger. Since it was my idea, I'm in charge of organizing the whole thing, so I've planned some ladder play for next Monday. I'm a bit nervous and also very excited, and I have no real idea what to expect. Will we fight decent teams? Will we fight Healing Hands wammos and Healing Breeze monks? At any rate, the goal is to have fun, to improve and to learn, and to not totally suck balls when the next Rawr Cup rolls around.

I'm going to be monking, despite the fact I don't really perform well under pressure >_>. I hope to improve, though, so I'm gonna need all the practice I can get. Other roles I'd like to play are the stand ele and the flagger, because they both look like a lot of fun. The ranger and mesmer roles are fun, too, but I have high ping and lack a knack for interrupting, so I wouldn't be good in those positions.

All I need to do before Monday is to arrange use of a friend's Vent server, roll my PvP monk, pick an exact starting time and make sure we have eight people. I currently have six confirmed, one who I hope can make it, and one guy I still need to ask when he comes online next.

Whee.
