OK well since i just saw a nice update on the suggestion page for Guild wars looks like I'll BS a frustrated post in my user space with all my suggestions for GW2.

Guild wars 2 armor design system.[edit]

  • using a Second Life design template system be able to design your own armor sets.
    • I've only played second life ever once but i saw some really rather cool armor or "clothing" templates that look like old suits of armor.
  • This system would be a rather large under taking but i believe it would add a new level to other games economy and a style system that is all your own.
    • A set of tools used to make the armor templates could either be included in the Game disc or separate download from the guild wars website kinda like the Guild Wars game client.
    • Would need a large storage server to hold templates.
    • template space such as 5 or 10 templates could be sold for real world money like character slots
    • buying and selling templates would be a system of income and exchange.
      • Players could then become armor crafters in a sense.
  • Fissure of Woe armor could still be in the game also adding a set for The Underworld
    • the NPCs armor crafters would still hold stock templates like the "flame forged" or "druid" armors sets
    • crafting materials could play a part in this for making an armor "tokens"
      • tokens could be bought from armor crafting NPCs for certain materials depending on location of NPC
      • only standard tokens could be bought from NPCs, means casters Armor 60 tokens and so on.
      Tokens
nothing more than a blank armor template with an armor value assigned to it
Armor: 5 or Armor: 60 and can be upgraded with perks runes and insignias
(dependent on primary class casters, melee fighters, and such as in Guild wars 1.)

      Armor Perks and abilities[edit]

May also want to think about being able to get to a higher level of armor, like Elementalist can get Armor 80 if they find a unique armor token.

      • unique tokens would be rather rare from boss drops such as the Dragon bosses
        • drop rate of about 2% or less Area net gets to pick.
      • could also have special perks like armor insignias but beefed up a bit
        • say you beat the water dragon it may have a +25% armor vs cold damage with armor 70 for a caster.
        • having perks like stated above only found for those armors (in Fissure of Woe) will make players want to craft a token or buy an armor set from in game.
          • extra energy +5 per piece, extra Regen +1, life Regen +1 just to name a few
          • The perks on the armor are just that perks insignias and runes can still be added to the armor.

      Armor Textures[edit]

When creating armor templates preset textures of Hat cloth armor Metal armor and so on look like would simplify the system some.

      • This help some beginners to create good looking templates without to much time designing and more time playing
      • a more advanced custom designed texture could be used for a different look like a metal that is fold able like cloth.

      Dyes[edit]

      • dyes would only be able to be applied to stock armor sets
      • unless creators had to mark areas or their armor that could be dyed.
        • this would be complex but worth it in the long run
      • when an armor template is created the selected colored areas that are designed on the armor become gray, meaning that dying them is still required

This system is basically unchanged other than the dying area for custom armor templates.

I realize that this system is a very large under taking and you have your hands full with many other problems in Guild Wars and in the upcoming Guild wars 2. This idea came to me out of the frustration of seeing so many people with the same armor and a friend telling me about the design system of Second Life. This System need only be in the up coming Guild wars 2 game still in development, I believe it this system will add more to Guild wars for people that aren't PvP fans and like to have a little style that they can call all there own. In turn this could also be used in PvP for a stylish and functional armor set. The Hall of Heroes end chest could drop the tokens special perk tokens.

Why this would be a good idea.

      • Armor sets would be truly a creation of the player and stock sets or in-game armor wouldn't become worn out to look at.
      • This system makes a player connect more with their character
      • Adds a if you can think it you can make it feel to the game.
      • Match your armor to your weapons or even make a line for you guild.

Why is is not a good idea

      • Will be a hard thing to program
      • storing templates may become overwhelming
      • creation of your own armor might be a little hard to grasp (at first)
