The Troll Bridge[edit]

Overview: This is a one-off event that starts a decent battle. One goal of this event is to have the players call for help from their friends rather than hope more passing players come by.

Step 0[edit]

Quest Set Off - This event will set off when there are about three players on the bridge. It doesn't matter, and it is actually hoped, that all three are just running along. The bridge should be semi-near an outpost. They are immediately hit with the skill A Fair Toll (explanation to follow). Join - Anybody who steps on the bridge after the Quest Set Off is hit with the skill A Fair Toll.

Step 1[edit]

Story - A huge troll appears from underneath the bridge and demands that he be paid for the wear and tear on his great family's troll den underneath. Any player may pay the troll 1000 gold, and the troll will disappear for an hour (the quest cannot be set off for that time).

Task - Kill the troll. It shouldn't be a hard encounter in the way of the troll's DPS. It should be hard because of the troll's regeneration, high armor, damage reduction, etc. The best way to kill him is death by a thousand paper cuts.
Join - Same as Step 0.
Fail - Any player that dies and is resurrected away from the bridge loses 100 gold and loses the status A Fair Toll. They can rejoin and will not be re-hit with A Fair Toll to try and get their money back. Any player that simply runs away will lose 250 gold and the status A Fair Toll, but they can rejoin to try and get their money back. If no players are near the troll (they all run away and or die), the troll will disappear for an hour.
Win - Any player may pay the troll 1000 gold at the outset, and the troll will disappear for an hour (the quest cannot be set off for that time), once paid every player loses A Fair Toll. Otherwise the troll can be killed and the players will get the reward of gold, experience, possible loot, possibly a regen buff for an hour or so, and most importantly no troll for 6-24 hours (depends on area activity). The players that activated the quest and stayed to win get a sign on the bridge that says "Bridge made safe by [player name].

A Fair Toll - Effect. This effect remains until one of the following conditions is met. You die and lose 100 gold. You exit the bridge's area for 10 seconds and lose 250 gold. The troll dies.
