(Discussion)[edit]

The Ascalon random arena should have limitations put into place as to which characters can participate.

For starters, only native Tyrians (characters from the Prophecies campaign) can enter. Secondly, any characters which have reached any outposts past Yak's Bend would not be allowed in. When an ineligible player tries to enter battle, the guard would stop them saying either "Sorry, you have been too close to the disease and we don't want to risk you infecting the other participants," to characters made in Factions or "We don't want any of your type around here," to characters made in Nightfall. Also, armor would be evened out by making all participants use a generic "arena armor" based on their class. This armor would still receive bonuses from runes and headgear.

Why this is a good idea
  •  This is a good idea because the Ascalon arena has become too much a place where people put together uber characters to go in and earn easy faction. I believe that the low level arena should be a place to help introduce new players to pvp without having to worry about the hardcore players who get elite runs to put together builds with skills and armor that nobody who has only made it to Ascalon city has any business having.

Why it may not work out
  •  <This may anger some of the regular participants in random arenas who put in the time and money to build a character just for this purpose. I think to best implement this idea advance notice that the update is coming is in order so that people can plan accordingly. Also, they could consider a grandfather clause that excludes any characters which have already participated in at least 1 battle before the update went into effect.
