Hi Def Ele. Yes, Hippopotamuses is an acceptably correct pluralization, but not correct in the true sense, just "acceptably" correct due to language evolution. The same applies to the plural for Octopus, Octopi. Octopuses can be used (that is, is accepted) in today's language. (People are going brain-dead these days I guess) Just an FYI. I'm well aware of that. However, many people consider "hippopotami" to be antiquated or overly precise or pedantic; Wikipedia lists "hippopotamuses" as the plural form of hippopotamus before going on to say that "hippopotami" can also used; the FF spell checker recognizes "hippopotamuses," but not "hippopotami"; the Oxford English Dictionary lists "hippopotamuses" as the "usual plural." So yes, "hippopotami" is, perhaps, more "proper," but it seems to me that "hippopotamuses" is more easily recognizable given that it's the "accepted" plural nowadays.

Theoretically, they could, yes, but even the most half-witted troll could find loopholes quite easily in such an injunction. Also, this line of discussion is very much on-topic; if the situation can be handled successfully through sysop intervention alone, an ArbComm injunction may not be required.

Problem is, admins are mostly restricted by existing rules, and there is just so much "disruption even though you have broken no rule, so banstick" that can go before people starts crying. Arbcomm can create new rules for specific cases, and can make them vague enough as to give admins room for "discretion", so if the user in question finds a loophole, admins can just act without being questioned. If you like chess, I recommend you try out a game called "Heroes of Might and Magic III". It's a turn based strategy(you can collect resources and build/upgrade castles) and the combat is like chess only a LOT better.

The first link is a compendium of mistakes made, very visibly, in the game known as Guild Wars - so ANet knows not to make them in Guild Wars 2. The second link is an insanely POV writeup made without much research done and without any knowledge of what Guild Wars 2 is going to have (Will monks even exist? Will they still be prot/heal? Will they have more offensive options that will account for weakening their support?). Thinking both articles should be treated the same is fallacious logic. -Auron 16:16, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Link 1, delete suggestions 3 (it will be all the way different skill system in GW2 so thats not proper suggestion), 5 (same than previous), 6 (it will be all the way different weapon system in GW2), 7 (same than previous), 13 (all the way different system, non instanced areas etc.), 14 and 16 (for same reason 3 and 5), 18 (same reason than 3, 5, 6 and 7) and 19 (for the reason link 1 page was deleted). Once those are deleted, that page deserves to be there. Otherwise it should be deleted.

You speedied a bunch of loading screens, giving redundant image as reason. Given that they are now missing from the region articles, that seem to not be the case. What's going on? Backsword 13:41, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Checked a few of the deleted revisions, and the tag reasons were that better images existed (for example, the Kourna loading screen's reason was that Image:Mudhuts1.jpg was a better version). I think they can be found at Category:Loading screens. --

There is no formal process for nominating a Bureaucrat. You could probably create an RFA-esque page if you really wanted to for the purposes of discussing nominations/candidates, I 'spose, but, frankly, it would essentially come down to convincing Auron/me/the other admins that a) another Bureaucrat was required and b) that candidate X is a good candidate. As to who I would trust, honestly, I'm inclined to say Auron. Here's the thing: everyone's biased. That said, bias isn't an inherently bad thing, per se. Auron is, generally speaking, good at separating personal, irrelevant bias from his decision-making process. Combine that with his experience as a Bureaucrat and with his continued activity, and that's about as good a choice as you're gonna be able to make.

Auron has told me to just email him if I think of a nominee (but I have no idea who to nominate). I understand your points, but like you said "everyone is biased". It wouldn't hurt to have 2 opinions to balance things out. I also understand that Auron is experienced, but at one time I'm sure all of you guys weren't "experienced" but you did your jobs and the site has survived. I think it would really help the wiki out to have just 1 more bcrat to help level things out. I can give you more detailed reasons later, but I'm about to leave for the weekend.
