- other users patrolling recent changes can see that it's not a major change for example. there's also a function that can disable minor edits. if you flood rc with rather small edits but don't tag them as minor, this could be annoying for several other users. and one can also get a better overview in the page history if you see which edits are minor and which aren't —Zerpha
