--Cattivo 22:13, 9 January 2009 (UTC)I'm certainly not for bullying in the game or in real life, but exactly what measures do you think ANET could take that they haven't already taken? They've provided the ignore feature, which yes, you might have to ignore the bully's friends or other accounts if they continue to speak to you via those other accounts, but it's still something you have to twart a bully's efforts. ANET provides in game reporting of offensive players, as well as, ways to report such activity on the support site. If the victim doesn't report the problem, then ANET can't do anything about that. It's the same as if a crime occurs and nobody reports it to the police; how are they going to be able to investigate or make an arrest?--209.194.208.116 20:48, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

If a crime is reported by witnesses in real life, it is investigated. In GW witness reporting does no good, has to be the victim reporting. That is part of the problem. I'm sure they would have a lot of false reports among many true ones, and I don't know how they would control that, which is probably why their policy is as it is. I don't know the answer, and ANET needs ideas. Their system does not stop the bullying. Maybe the victim should be allowed to change names (ID) with enough witness reports.--76.178.237.156 13:11, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

First of all, if a victim is bullied in a town such that there would be witnesses, then they can actually report the bully. That's why there is a report system for verbal abuse. Secondly, if the bullying occurs via a whisper to the victim, the ignore feature makes it possibly to prevent the bully from speaking to the victim or even seeing if the victim is online. Yes, you might end up having to ignore several of his friends, but this is within the victim's control. If the victim takes no measures to report the incidents nor takes time to protect themselves, then how exactly is a witness going to be able to help them? Please explain the scenario you're talking about, because clearly this is something that either happened to you or to someone you know and you're just not being forthcoming with what happened to make any sense of your suggestion.--24.92.116.83 17:46, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

OK. Yes this is an ongoing issue, the /report and ignore systems have been used, and yet we have had no resolution. If a witness reports a bully Anet tells u they can do nothing without the victim reporting. As in real life, the victim has been physically threatened several times, and is in fear of reporting. Our bully can go into LA, Kamadan etc and tell 50 people to pm a victim with threats and many will. Most seem to see reporting as ratting. You end up having to add 20-30 more people to your ignore list daily, it's not just putting the bullies friends on ignore. We have found people paid to join our guild for the purpose of passing on threats, creating characters with names to threaten the victim. It is not within a victims control. In real life victims seldom report, witness reports are what lead to eliminating bullies. Victims are in fear, probably young, and can't get much help because they are afraid to report. Fear controls people and bullies know it, and I know this because I have dealt with bullies. I could go visit a relative of the bully in real life, but i believe there has to be a solution.--76.178.237.156 13:46, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

But as in real life, reports often take some time to process, plus there must be some evidence, screenshots in this case, to support those reports. This is to protect the accused as well as the victim, since it's possible that someone is being falsely accused of such bullying. In addition, in the real world, if a victim receives a threat, but refuses to press charges, even if that threat was witnessed and reported by a someone else, then it's highly unlikely anything will be done. I'm sure that ANET is doing its best to resolve this issue, however, they are also not law enforcement. It seems to me that if physical threats and harassments are occurring on the level for which you say it is, then #1 the victim or a witness can screen capture those threats and submit them to law enforcement authorities, much in the same manner as you might receive threatening phone calls. The problem with your suggestion is that you seem to make a claim that ANET provides no means to report the issue, or doesn't take action. Submitting your suggestion here isn't going to do much good as you need to speak with support, which you say you have already done. In the meantime, might I suggest that the victim be told to play in the offline mode? This would prevent anyone from messaging them directly. Yeah it sucks not to be able to talk to your friends, but it is at least one other method ANET has provided to help a person to protect themselves on som level.--Cattivo 22:13, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Witnesses have submitted screenshots. I'm not out to solve a specific situation in here, just looking for suggestions to improve the system. Anet claims to not take action unless the victim reports. I think they need a better approach to bullying issues. Anet's system is no deterrent. Having recently met someone in-game that had to start from scratch for similar circumstance, I'm liking my idea of having "X" number of reports from witnesses allowing a victim to change ID without starting from scratch. --Fed Up 14:20, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Well I think you have your answer right there then. ANET won't take action unless the victim reports it. If you witness bullying of another player to the point that it offends you while in a public area of the game, then you too are a victim and subsequently capable of reporting it because YOU were offended. This, of course, must be something that anyone would be able to agree, violated the EULA,such as using offensive language. Otherwise, if the EULA wasn't broken, and the 'direct' victim of bullying doesn't report it, then ANET has no choice but to assume that the 'victim' must either welcome the communication from the bully, or finds no offense in it. No offense to you, but it really seems to me that you're just trying to get ANET to make it possible for a player to change their ID in the game, and not really concerned about improving the reporting system. So if that's the case, then just put in the suggestion to allow players to change IDs. Besides that, if the victim doesn't report the offense, then why would 'x' number of witness reports make the victim want to change his ID? It seems to me that if the victim submitted "x" number of reports for different situations, proving that a bully wasn't leaving them alone, then maybe then ANET could allow him to change his ID.--Cattivo 23:08, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

ATTN[edit]

If you cannot handle people not being nice to you, GTFO my internets. If they were doing things that actually result in harm, like stealing your stuff or hacking the game, I could see a problem. People playing GW are not in their formative years; if someone is acting like a dickhead, call them a faggot, /ignore them and move on with life. --Jette User Jette awesome.png 23:19, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Second. --71.237.88.85 11:15, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Third. Seriously, people who QQ about getting insulted online should just go offline and hide under a rock for 1...12...15 years (Attribute:Attributes for scrubs who whine and QQ about everything 24/7)
People can develop mental disorders from abuse of any kind. Internet abuse hasn't been around long enough for any names to be given for developed mental disorders. Just because it's common, doesn't mean it's right.--Ohnoes 15:50, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
