Add weapon 'properties'. Weight, size and design.
Add 3 new properties to weapons
- Weight (material composition) – Lighter weapons increase attack speed but reduces damage, normal weapons have normal attack speed and no damage reduction, heavy weapons have a slower attack speed with a bonus to armour penetration. From light to heavy, there can be 7 intervals, with 1 being the lightest (and 4 in the middle). For the bow and arrow, only the arrow will have the weight property attached to it.
- Size – Smaller sized weapons can only hit one person at a time, but have a higher chance to cause a critical hit, normal sized weapons can hit up to two people, and have a normal chance to hit critically, while large weapons can hit up to three people, and have a lowered chance to hit critically. From small to large, there are 3 divisions (small, medium and large) but will have 7 different sizes across the three (for visual appearance). To give an example, a dagger would be considered a small weapon while the bastard sword would be a large weapon.
- Dual Wielding - grants a 10%chance to double-strike (small weapons only)
- Dual Handling - grants a 5%chance to ignore attack interrupts and a 5%chance to ignore block (large weapons only)
- Design – This is influenced by the weight and the size, but most importantly, they are the modifications of the weapon that we see in Guild Wars 1. Because of the difficulty to make balance and the wide variation of mods to think of, I wont go into further detail. The final design of the weapon determines the weapon’s name.
- Why this is a good idea
- Allows for a range of combinations when creating weapons
- Why it may not work out
- Unnecessarily complex and challenging
