Aggro Methods (Discussion)

Line of Sight

Make it so that monsters require a line of sight before they will engage in combat.

-Added If it was only based on sight it would be less realistic then before. But is you add all the senses like hearing, vision and for some monsters a 6th sense should apply where you can't sneak past them at all unless you have some thing to mask your Aura. Also the same thing should apply to you on you map. this would add advantages and disadvantages to the new races and humans. Example- the Charr would have a better sense of smell and hearing then a human. and an Asura would have dark vision.

Why this is a good idea
  •   Adds to realism by requiring monsters to see you before deciding to fight.
  •   Can sneak past monsters that have their backs turned
Why it may not work out
  •   Very different to the current system that is based on radar, and might be confusing to get used to
  •

Base aggro on Sight/Smell/Sound/Magic

Provide a variety of ways to provoke or prevent monsters from engaging in combat:

  • If a character smells good/bad, they can attract different monsters
  • Allow monsters to hear sounds that you make
  • Creatures affiliated to magic can be allowed to sense someone casting a particular spell at a distance.
Why this is a good idea
  •   Allows characters to better interact with monsters, aside from stepping into their aggro zone
  •   Provides a variety of ways to aggro monsters
Why it may not work out
  •   Can be very irritating when you aggro monsters at a greater possible range than with the current system
  •
