Class Based Gui's (Discussion)

I've thinking on giving each class for gw2 a seperate view on their play mechanics. This system would be manipulated just like the current GUI in our in game options, but this one would create a level of uniqueness for each class. Right now we have the capability to customize our GUI more or less to a degree that suits us best. The level of modification that I am suggesting is having the gui react different to each class, whether that is a caster, melee and whatever is to come.

A monk looks at the battlefield differently than a warrior, so in lue of that mindset it would be interesting in having a unique GUI for each category of class.

That said, those gui's would be fully customizable and would allow people switch back to the generic style at any time. This came across to me when I realized that playing the game for 3+ years with the same generic look is really boring.

We have little to no customization options, when it comes to setting extra features and color changes to certain events or characters in game. I would very much like the capability to customize my own style of in game play. This of course for the balance driven people like myself would not entail that I have an upper hand over everyone. I am simply saying I would like the opportunity to put my own truly unique mark on playing the game. And I think considering the extensiveness of what gw2 will cover, this would allow people to focus purely on the class they are dealing with, while still maintaining their effectiveness in communication, positioning and team play.

Why this is a good idea
  •   Gives uniqueness to each class in both game play and visual appearance.
  •   Gives direct focus to the mindset which the primary character is designed for.
  •   Allows for deeper customization for specific in game tactics, such as healing, proting, smiting, tanking, dps, running, interrupting, etc...
Why it may not work out
  •   Heavier creative and development side.
  •   Makes bigger elitist groups, asking for people with specific visual sets for certain in game content.
  •   May give rise to confusion in players used to the design of their first character upon making a new character. Perhaps having this as an optional feature would be more desirable - allowing the whole community to decide their own preferences.
