Customizable Weapons (Discussion)

Introduce FULL weapon customization; right from metal composition of the blade; the type of feathers on the arrow; the hilt design; the balance and weight of the weapon, and customizing designs on the metal itself.

Why this is a good idea
  •  It would let players personalize their style in weapons, and it leads to a little more enjoyment, and everyone likes to customize their stuff.
  • Could tie in well if a crafting system is introduced. With players crafting their weapons out of materials that they can afford and find visualy pleasing. With more expensive and higher quality materials making more powerful weapons
Why it may not work out

Very Graphic Intensive

  • less 'known' items for people to buy and sell

Weapon Engravings, Sockets & Jewelry

Allow customized engravings on a weapon. Also introduce sockets that can be powered with stones to make customized adjustments to the way it performs - an extension to the insignia system.

Why this is a good idea
  •  It would add a new level of depth to the customization of the game, this is to allow for more variety ... custom engravings on your sword (as in "you type the engraving") and you can classify the engravings to allow different effects (purely cosmetic)
  •  Sockets would allow for different combinations of power / defense increase depending on the minerals & quality of the mineral.
  •  A huge array of randomly selected engravings for drop items etc. could allow for deeper player immersion , and could further the lore of the game, eg: some charr enemy's sword that was dropped could have a message from his wife and children engraved on it.
Why it may not work out
  •  Engravings could be applied to all weapons but I guess it may be an issue for a Ritualist or healer, but I'm not sure this is even an issue as every class has a weapon ... Go try engraving a bow then tell me if you still think that.
  •  Allowing sockets could overly complicate the balancing of the game, but this could be manageable, perhaps we could make the changes again ... purely cosmetic.
  •   This may interfere with the insignia system etc. but the ability to type your own "engraving" would be pretty cool.
  •   Why? we have inscriptons and many other things like that already, adding sockets just is one extra thing for the programmers. also very Diablo like.
