Grapples and Throws(Discussion)

One possibility in guild wars 2 I see is the ability to grab and throw your enemy. Now I know it wouldn't be easy to do because of animations but it could add a new element to the fighting in guild wars 2. A grab would prevent skill use by your opponent for a very short time allowing you to use a single skill type know as a throw. A throw is a skill that can only be achieved when you have an opponent in a grab. When some one uses a throw the stance of the user and victim would end(if either are in one). A throw would also push the enemy back farther away from you to prevent grab spamming. Both Grapples and Throws would fall under the melee attack category so they could be blocked. When some one uses a throw all there adrenalin(if there is any in GW2) would be depleted and you would suffer exhaustion(again if GW2 has it). All though throws would most likely have a low energy/adrenalin cost a grapple would always cost a high amount of adrenalin(if GW2 has it) of at least 10 and a high recharge time of minimum of 60 seconds.

although these skill types have a lot of kick to them the big flaw is the high recharge time of the Grapples. Some one could end up making builds based on grapples and one or two throws and have an effective fighter, but if the grapples fail(which they all can) they would be a siting duck for some one to eliminate them.

Warriors in history have used these types of moves to save them selves in battle to fight another day all through out the world. Wrestling is a type of fighting that uses grapples and throws to KO the opponent and judo(a type of wrestling) uses them mostly is self defense. There are plenty more examples i could give you but I think you get the picture.

Why this is a good idea
  • New defensive and offensive options.
  • Combining would be a logical choice. Wait how is that bad?
Why it may not work out
  • Would be very hard to animate.
  • Combining would be a logical choice. Which kind of exists: Shove
