If the current Alliance Battle system doesn't exist in GW2 *since Cantha has been cut off for the time being*, perhaps create a new system in which 2-4 guilds of an alliance can battle each other on huge battlefields. Each guild can bring a full 8-man team, and the format would be similar to that of the current guild versus guild battles except now there are multiple guilds and multiple objectives to accomplish on much larger maps.
You would only have the party bars of your 8-man team so each individual team can only effectively heal/coordinate with themselves. However, multi-team coordination would be possible with voice chats, IE-ventrilo and teamspeak. There would be possibly multiple flags or points of capture for each team to manage, so each team of 8 would be assigned to one point and fight another team of 8, like a GvG. But with possibly 16-32 players on one Alliance Squad, other compound objectives and splits would be possible for more advanced players.
This would be a much more structured form of Alliance Battles than the random system that exists now and offer a whole new venue in which an Alliance can battle for supremacy. Perhaps even create a competitive ladder similar to GvG.
- Why this is a good idea
- Large structured battles that aren't just individuals running around but organized teams each with its own objective to accomplish.
- Possibly another competitive ladder for Guild Wars players to enjoy
- Provide an opportunity to prove who is the better Alliance
- The ultimate coordination, even more so than GvG *gasp :D*
- Why it may not work out
- Many players onscreen could cause lag
- So many players may be hard to balance skill-wise
- Such extensive combat could be hard to coordinate or even create maps for depending on ability of GW servers
- Difficult to have that many willing participants on at the same time
