Guild Wars 2 Suggestions

(Discussion)

Instead of having guild hall be just massive fortresses, have the guild hall where players from the guild meet be a giant feasting hall where you can display acheivments, your cape and so forth while you can use the fortress outside for guild battles.

This is a good idea since in the very beginning of Guild Wars's bragging rights on guild-halls, I imagined a very customizable guild hall where you could choose where buildings went or how it looked. I imagined being able to place decorations, flags, stairs, towers, bridge and the at least WITHIN the walls of the guild hall. When they finally released guild halls during the betas, I have to say I was a little close to disappointment.

I suggest this possibility in GW2. It's such a big part of building a close-knit community to customize something that's yours and only yours. To say, "my guild hall is unique" is something that should be available for everybody. Colours should be able to change, building architecture and placement of things should all be part of the experience. The specifics are up to ANET, but imagine how much better it would be if inside an actual hall, there were tapestries of the guild emblem, murals of its heroes, statues of its victors, and racks of weapons and monuments? Think about it ANET.

heres my input for it:

keep the massive land but put a hall in the middel of it. Battles are still in the big area but when you go to your guild hall you spwan inside (except when in GVG)

only the hall would be customized and thats where teh traders and other things would appear.

durring GVG the hall would be locked. Players in the guild should also have "Guild Storage", where each player, if allowed by the owner, has a shelf somewhere (only 8-15 shelves)where they can place trophys and weapons tthey have achived. And there should be diffrent sizes of the hall or just one basic hall you can add extra rooms and more areas. Mabey a full elite hall would look like some massive undead castel that will cost...you know...ALOT. well, thats my input, add your own.

Why this is a good idea
  • Make Guild Halls more like "Halls" and not "Fortresses"
  • Make each guild hall customised to a guild so they arent all the same
  • Give the guild hall a much needed renovating.
  • It would give the hall a much more "home"-like feel as opposed to some temporary camp to play a few rounds.
Why it may not work out
  • Guilds may misuse the feature to create things in bad taste
  • Guilds may not want a hall and just want a fortress
  • Depending on how a customized guild hall transfers to actual GvG's, a customized guild hall could easily be an advantage to one guild and a large disadvantage for the opposing team. "Fine-tuning" a guild hall would become a sport to keep the other team out. (This could be solved by transferring GvG's to a seperate location)
  • It is already like this in Guild Wars 1, the problem is perception of "hall".
