Guild Wars 2 Suggestions

(Discussion)

Guild leaders should be able to obtain (perhaps at extra cost or as an "add-in") management tools to track a number of elements of their guild's activities. A leader may want to track

- Number of recruits each member has signed on / still present (xx/yy)

- Amount of faction / type contributed, total and last 24 hours (Norn 33,246 / 1,500)

- Contributions to guild purchases (Skill trainer, 30k; merchant, 50k); alternatively, contribution to guild bank, see below

- Contributions to guild awards or victories (Member: Fissure vanquish, Member: GvG wins zz)

- Different sub-factions in the guild, i.e. Eternal Torment's PvP Team; GvG Team, AB Team - this in addition to "normal" members.

- Internal guild awards. These "gold stars" in whatever final format would be awarded for superior contributions to guild activities and, once awarded, cannot be taken away. There could be various levels of this also, e.g. Bronze, Silver, Gold. They could be automatically awarded for fund-raising, recruiting, representing at events, and so on.

- Warning system or persistent personal message for members. From time to time, members violate guild protocol. It's an ugly fact, but as things stand now, there is nothing which can be done other than a verbal warning. Demerit points or three-strikes warnings might be helpful as would a tracking system for awards over time and present number (ot/pn). Demerits could be resolved in some fashion.

- Guild bank, addressed by others, but properly belongs as part of a larger tool set. This way collections can be made into the bank and spent from the bank on hall improvement and, perhaps, on funding guild-only runs into high-level instances. Guild bank funds might also be used to sponsor mini-tournaments or awards, i.e. Eternal Torment sponsors a 5k prize for the first group to bring them the Goody Two Shoes standard. This would need to be tracked by the guild leadership so they can see what's open and what has been done. Theoretically, internal guild awards could lead to a new displayable title, e.g. Eternal Torment supporter so there would be incentive to support your guild.

Why this is a good idea
  •   Tools make the job of a guild leader easier in larger guilds and foster a sense of cohesion and reward within the guild. It makes it easier to be sure guildies are doing what they claim they're doing. In large guilds which have faction requirements, this will permit verification. Guild sponsorship of prizes opens up a whole new realm of questing which doesn't need to be hand-crafted by Anet.

Bonus: this may be backwards-compatible, so GW1 players might also buy it.

Why it may not work out
  •   The warning system would almost invariably be abused, therefore some sort of limit would need to be placed. Perhaps a quorum of officers might need to vote for a warning.

Not everyone will want or need this.

Not everyone will like this, in which case, they can join a guild more suited to their tastes.
