Name sharing between characters (Discussion)

The idea is to allow different characters on the same account to have the same name.

For example, I have my main character named Tehek Firefox. And it's a little bit of hinderance to come up with a new name for each pvp character (and I delete and recreate them often). Many people use names like "I Don't Have Name", "Just A Ranger" or something similar which makes them barely recognizable when u chat or team up with them (you have to open your Friend list and/or Guild roster).

I would be nice to see this little feature (or just ease of naming restriction). It doesn't change game play or graphics or something.

Why this is a good idea
  •  Helps to make player's characters more recognizable.
  •  No need to come up with new name for each character
  •  Doesn't affect game play
  •  Simplifies communication
  •  Increases the amount of vacant names.
  •  I like the names I choose but the ones I get are few and far between. Thus I am limited to a small amount of characters so I can have a desired name. Therefore I could have more characters.
Why it may not work out
  •  Depends on character system in GW2... Maybe it's already implemented or there's no need in this
  •  eh... lazy programmers? :)
  •  If the name is the hard-coded part by which the program recognizes the characters it is a problem, though not too hard to fix.

Account-wide name / nickname / handle (Discussion)

Players should be able to choose an account-wide name, nickname or handle, which they have the option of displaying in addition to their character name. Displaying this account-wide name should be optional, allowing players to hide it for roleplaying or privacy reasons.

Why this is a good idea
  •  Makes it easier for players to maintain an account-wide online identity.
