Add these weapons into the game! (Discussion)

This is a collection of suggestions about introducting new weapons that do not currently exist in GW1. Sorted by weapon type. Contributors are encouraged to add to this article, keeping in mind that it should be a weapon that doesn't exist in GW1.

Martial Weapons
  • Chakram
  • Crossbow & Bolts
  • Double-headed Glaive
  • Dual-Wield (any one-handed melee weapon, perhaps as a passive ability)
  • Fan
  • Flail
  • Firearms - Flintlock Muskets, matchlocks and wheel locks Harquebuses.
  • gloves or gauntlets (possibly Clawed or Spiked)
  • Grenades - basically cherry bomb-like in appearance; they would be dual wielded and inflict small amounts of AoE damage on foes adjacent to target; attack skills could inflict conditions (flash=blind, gas=poison... etc)
  • Katars
  • knives and daggers (with free offhand)
  • Mace (both one and two handed)
  • Mauls
  • meele staffs (could be used for a meele wep for monks)
  • Nunchaku
  • Pole arms
  • Powder Kegs (damage-dealing)
  • Rapiers (as part of a single-item set, with a dagger offhand)
  • Sansetsukon
  • Sickle\Kama
  • Sling
  • Spear & Lance (For melee)
  • Throwing knives
  • Throwing stars
  • Throwing axes
  • Two-handed Sword
  • Two-handed Axe
  • War Boomerang
  • Whips
Focus Items
  • Elemental Orb - These are basically glass or crystal orbs that contain the essences of one of the four (or seven, including dark, chaos, and holy) elements. They are easy to imagine as focus items, but they could also be primary, perhaps duel wielded weapons, similar to wands. Alternatively, these orbs could also function as grenade-like weapons. Rather than simply exploding, however, these would have elemental effects (earth=fissures, water=ice, air=lightning, fire=magical Molotov cocktail) upon impact.
  • Quiver on Ranger's back
Siege Engines (For World PvP)
  • Ballista
  • Battering Rams
  • Bombard Cannons
  • Catapults
  • Powder Keg Backpack - Could be used for suicide bombing
  • Siege Beasts - Siege Turtles, Siege Devourers, Siege Wurms, etc... (Could be its own category)
  • Siege Towers - These have been mentioned briefly by Anet staff on multiple occasions, so it might have already been confirmed
  • Trebuchet

Why this is a good idea
  • Increase range of weapon selection (and possibly, weapon attributes).
  • A few new weapon types will give us something NEW to look forward to.
  • Expanding weapon choices and technology would make quite a lot of sense when GW2 comes out as it is taking place 200 years after the end of Guild Wars. If a civilization, none the less several different civilizations couldn't advance in technology over 200 years somewhere, that'd be a problem.
Why it may not work out
  • Balance difficulties increases exponential with number of weapon sorts.
  • Elemental Orb: endless stream of cheap and effective "grenades".
