Ode to Prince Rurik (Discussion)

Okay. You know how there's a part in Nightfall where you can re-enact the defeat of Palawa Joko by Turai Ossa with a Vabbian actor? You should do the same thing with Prince Rurik. Here's what I had in mind:

Quest Giver asks the player to Re-Enact the battle at the Ruins of Surmia. The player agrees except the NPC wants to play "the hero" so the player gets stuck playing the role of the Flaming Queen Mage. I mean uh. Flaming Scepter Mage. Yeah. Those guys. Anyway. What was his name. Errol? Whatever.

The player and the quest giver arrive at an amphitheatre where the audience gets to watch them re-enact the battle of Surmia. The player (as Errol) accompanies "The Heroic Prince Rurik" and they 'fight' and 'kill' some extras along the way. Then the player waits with "Rurik" as another actor playing the role of...well...you in GW1, goes and opens the gate from the other side. After the gate is lowered, the player and "Rurik" cross over and then the show-stopping line is delivered.

"The Heroic Prince Rurik" shouts out the following: "This is a fight we cannot win. We must avoid that large group of enemies at all costs. That's why I'm going to run straight into the middle of them."

The quest giver then runs into the swarm of hired extras, who proceed to "Pwn" him to death. The player and the other actors playing the party from GW1, all "die" and collapse to the ground. The audience then roars with laughter and cheers. The actors all stand up, take a bow, and the player accepts the quest reward.

The End

Why this is a good idea
  • It would be nice to 'honor' Prince Rurik's memory in the new installment.
  • It would be hilarious (not to mention historically accurate).
Why it may not work out
  • It would flood youtube with player-created videos of the event.
  • Charr will probably sue for being type-cast as villains all the time.
