Quest creator for guild leader Discussion

High-level concept

Assuming guilds in gw 2 are able to earn something similar to faction points for the guild, provide the guild leader the option to spend those points on unique quest and quest rewards for their guild members.

Implementation approach - Simple

The implementation could be as simple as allowing guild leaders to pick from a unique set of guild quest, these quest only available for guild leaders to purchase for their guild members with fixed rewards. The price of the quest would reflect the reward and difficulty of the quest. If this approach is applied, the quest available to guild leader for purchase could be assigned a rarity following the traditional system (or gw2 counterpart) white, light-blue, purple, gold and green. In this system green quest could be special items used to reward gvg pvp combat, etc...

Implementation approach - Complex

A more robust approach to this idea would be to provide guild leaders with a quest builder tool. The quest builder tool could be something purchased by guild leader for in-game currency (as other guild hall amenities are currently) or it could be an add-on tool that must be purchased at retail. The later approach approach would effectively turn the guild leader into a game master. As with table top RPGs, the game master would be required to put a bit more investment into the game (note: by assuming role of guild leader, guild leaders are likely already investing more of themselves in the game than the average player).

The quest builder tool could provide guild leaders with a preset of unique NPC characters, quest items, temporary skills, etc... which could be used to create simple story archs for players.

The quest builder tool could be added on post-release and complement the "Simple" approach described above.

Why this is a good idea
  •  Would challenge guild leaders
  •  Would provide a new strategic element to the game
  •  Would encourage players to explore many guilds
  •  Would provide a sand-boxed solution to allowing user-generated content
Why it may not work out
  •  User created content (dialog in this case) would have to be audited by software algorithms or ArenaNet employees
  •  Would encourage players to explore many guilds
