Netherview (Discussion)

If players could interact with the enviroment by projecting a field of their energies through their totems, Eyewear, garmets, etc. to create a bubble opf nether-sight, a HUD screen that shows the surrounds area in a bluish/colored tinge, with important features outlined in different colors. Red for enemies, green for allies, yellow for neutral lifeforms, and white outlines for magical energy. This would allow ritualists to recon a surrounding area for danger, by spotting moving targets and honing in on magical energies.

They could combine this with the expelling of energies to affect their enviroment, such as flinging small objects or creating distractions by controlling minor beasts and spirits movement, making them rustle leaves and attack unwary enemies. They could enhance the performance of allies in battle, by channeling energy and focus into the fighters. Perhaps the most deadly use of this nether-touch would be the ability to imbue arrows or bolts with energy markers, and then see beforehand an arching pathway that would reflect the path of the arrow. If the view were adjusted correctly, an arrow could be controlled during its flight time, to ensure accuracy and a critical, and especially damaging if extra magic was imbued into the arrow at the last moment(ex:more ritualist energy focused at point of projectile for armor piercing), impact to a targets vunerable areas.

Why this is a good idea
  • Would bring the strategy back to moving forces of players, requiring insight and leadership skills.
  • Would Provide awesome view of airborne projectiles and their impact.
Why it may not work out
  • Might be unbalancing if energy consumption rates were not installed.
  • Might make characters with Ritualist as a secondary profession too deadly if they had time to prepare an ambush, however, and ambush is supposed to confer a large advantage.
